    摘要: A multifunctional self-cleaning surface layer and methods of preparing the multifunctional self-cleaning surface layer are provided. The multifunctional self-cleaning surface layer includes an inorganic matrix including silicon and oxygen; a plurality of photocatalytic active particles distributed within and bonded to the inorganic matrix; and a plurality of nanopores defined within the inorganic matrix in regions corresponding to bonds between the plurality of photocatalytic active particles and the inorganic matrix. Water molecules may be disposed within at least a portion of the plurality of nanopores. In the presence of water and electromagnetic radiation, the plurality of photocatalytic active particles may facilitate a decomposition reaction of any oil or organic residue on the multifunctional self-cleaning surface layer.

    摘要: A system includes a display. The display includes an array of LEDs covered by a transparent material. The array of LEDs includes a plurality of first, second, third, and fourth LEDs respectively configured to emit red, green, blue, and violet light. The red, green, and blue light from the first, second, and third LEDs is visible to human eye. Violet light from the fourth LEDs is invisible to human eye. The system includes a photocatalytic coating disposed on the transparent material. The photocatalytic coating includes a photo-catalyst responsive to ultraviolet radiation present in sunlight and to the violet light emitted by the fourth LEDs in the array of LEDs. The system includes a controller configured to selectively turn on the fourth LEDs to activate the photo-catalyst in the photocatalytic coating disposed on the transparent material.

    摘要: A self-cleaning film system includes a substrate and a film. The film includes a monolayer formed from a fluorinated material, and a first plurality of regions disposed within the monolayer and spaced apart from one another such that each of the regions abuts, is surrounded by, and is not covered by the fluorinated material. Each of the regions includes a photocatalytic material. The system may include a wave guide disposed adjacent the substrate. The wave guide includes a first light source configured for emitting a first portion of electromagnetic radiation towards the film having an ultraviolet wavelength of from 10 nm to 400 nm, and a second light source configured for emitting a second portion of electromagnetic radiation towards the film having an infrared wavelength of from 700 nm to 1 mm. A method of forming a self-cleaning film system configured for reducing a visibility of a contaminant is disclosed.
