Abstract:
Disclosed are algorithms for provisioning content browsing and personalized advertising using hybrid collaborative filters, electronic audiovisual systems implementing such browsing and advertising algorithms, and motor vehicles with onboard audiovisual infotainment systems for provisioning content browsing. A method is disclosed for provisioning content browsing to an occupant of a motor vehicle. The method includes: aggregating vehicle-related data and user-specific data associated with the motor vehicle and the occupant; creating a database of content data received from a distributed computer network; determining, via a Recommendation Engine, multiple recommendations by applying a hybrid collaborative filter to the stored content data based on the user-specific and vehicle-related data; transmitting the recommendations via a Dialogue Engine to the occupant through an electronic audiovisual system of the motor vehicle; and receiving one or more user selections of one or more of the transmitted recommendations from the occupant through the electronic audiovisual system.
Abstract:
A system and method for providing navigation routing options to a vehicle driver, including estimated fuel consumption and fuel cost. A server collects data from a large number of road vehicles driving different routes, where the data includes road grade, average speed, stop/start and acceleration/deceleration info and vehicle specifications, and the data is collected via a telematics or other wireless system. The server also receives map data, point of interest data and real-time traffic data from their respective providers. When a driver of a road vehicle requests navigation routing from a start point to a destination, the server provides multiple routing options including not only distance and time for each routing option, but also fuel consumption and cost. The estimated fuel consumption is computed using models based on the crowd-sensed data from the other vehicles driving the routes, where the models include a physics-based model and a machine learning model.
Abstract:
A portable system including a digital connection plug, a processing hardware unit, and a non-transitory storage device including code causing the processing hardware unit to perform operations including dividing a received source video file or virtualized source video into a plurality of equal- or non-equal-sized image components. A resulting data-content package is stored at the system such as at a framebuffer thereof. System operations further comprise generating a meta-index package comprising a plurality of index components, each index component corresponding to a respective one of the equal-sized image components, storing the meta-index package, and sending the data-content package and the meta-index package to the host device for publishing of the image components sequentially, in accord with an order of the meta-index package, for display rendering streaming video corresponding to the source video file or virtualized source video.
Abstract:
A dynamic wireless multi-channel switch including a networking device providing access to communicate messages on at least two frequency bands. A wireless access manager module determines a utilization of each frequency band based on the communicated messages. The wireless access manager module dynamically adjusts a time slot ratio of each frequency band as a function of the utilization of the communicated messages by the networking device.
Abstract:
A positioning method includes acquiring global positioning system (GPS) position data associated with a mobile platform from a plurality of GPS satellites observable by the mobile platform. A set of wireless range measurements associated with the mobile platform and a plurality of wireless access points in communication with the mobile platform are acquired. The method further includes receiving, from a server communicatively coupled to the mobile platform over a network, wireless position data associated with the plurality of wireless access points. A corrected position of the mobile platform is determined based on the wireless position data, the wireless range measurements, and the GPS position data.
Abstract:
A method of managing short-range wireless links between a primary wireless device and a plurality of secondary wireless devices includes initiating a short-range wireless link between the primary wireless device and a secondary wireless device configured to communicate using a traditional Wi-Fi protocol; providing the short-range wireless link between the primary wireless device and the secondary wireless device using a Wi-Fi direct protocol, wherein the primary wireless device acts as a group owner and the secondary wireless device acts as a group member; detecting the presence of an additional secondary wireless device, acting as a server, using the primary wireless device; ending use of the Wi-Fi direct protocol over the short-range wireless link between the primary wireless device and the secondary wireless device; and beginning use of the traditional Wi-Fi protocol over the short-range wireless link between the primary wireless device and the secondary wireless device.
Abstract:
A system and method for sharing information from a vehicle for comparison to information from other vehicles. The system and method include collecting vehicle trace data and sharing the vehicle trace data using a communications network such that the vehicle trace data is compared and ranked relative to the vehicle trace data of other vehicles.
Abstract:
A method of controlling media content between a portable device and a head control unit. A first link is initiated for transmitting control signals between a control client and a control server. A second link is initiated for transmitting media content between a data server and a data client. The first link has a lower traffic volume capacity than the second link and a shorter latency for the control signals than for the media content signal over the second link. The control client generates control signals identifying a user's request and transmits the control signals to the control server using the first link. The control server provides instructions to the data server for executing the user request. The retrieved media data is transmitted from the data server to the data client using the second link. The media data is output to the user over the media output device.
Abstract:
A system for fusing two or more versions of map data together includes one or more central computers that receive road network data representing a road network for a predefined geofenced area. The central computers receive road network data that includes a discrete random curve that represents lane markings. The discrete random curve includes a plurality of state vectors that are each defined by a respective location and tangent angle. The central computers estimate the position for the state vectors of the discrete random curve based on a signed distance and the tangent angle by minimizing a spatial Kalman filter cost function and execute a Kalman smoothening function to estimate the position and the tangent angle for the state vectors that are part of the discrete random curve, where the state vectors each represent a map point of the fused map data.

A method for merging lane line maps includes determining a road topology of a road segment. The method also includes identifying a plurality of fused points based at least in part on the road topology and based at least in part on a first lane line map of the road segment and a second lane line map of the road segment. The method also includes forming a fused lane line map based at least in part on the plurality of fused points. The method also includes performing a first action based at least in part on the fused lane line map.
