Abstract:
A copying tracer for tracing templates which have hollows or recesses or bores, particularly for stamping or nibbling machines, comprises a housing with a bore therein with a copying tracer plunger portion slidable in the bore which has a lower end which engages the template. The tracer plunger is biased by biasing means which act to provide a uniform downward biasing pressure on the plunger to engage the lower template engaging end portion of the tracer with the template and which is increased when the template begins to move downwardly, such as when it enters a recess or a groove, so that the movement becomes very rapid. The biasing may be accomplished by a spring system which includes one coil spring acting axially along the axis of the plunger tracer and an additional spring which is locked when the tracer engages the surface of the template but which moves transversely and acts against the plunger in a downward component of force after the tracer is initially moved downwardly. Another embodiment comprises a fluid pressure operated system wherein the plunger is first forced downwardly into engagement with the template by a first pressure source acting on the plunger which is by-passed partially around the plunger, but which acts entirely on the plunger after it is moved initially downwardly.
Abstract:
A ski has better guide properties the sharper the corner areas of the steel edge profiles. Using a laser beam, the corner areas of the steel edge profiles are hardened on the ski.
Abstract:
A laser work station has a pair of spaced, parallel extending elongated base members defining a work station therebetween, a laser head support carriage extending between and mounted on the base members for movement along their length, a laser head mounting assembly on the laser support carriage movable therealong between the base members, and a laser head on the mounting assembly for movement vertically relative to the support carriage, so that the laser head is movable in X, Y and Z axes. At least one cart is movable in a path from a point of entry at one end of the base members to the opposite end thereof, and cart positioning elements locate the cart in a predetermined position between the base members. A guidance system is connected to the several movable elements to effect precision movement of the laser head over the workpiece supported on the cart(s) over substantially the entire length of the movement of the laser head support carriage, and fume may be withdrawn through one of the base members.
Abstract:
A combination punch press and laser cutting machine has a C-shaped frame with a platform extending rearwardly from the web of the frame. Supported on the platform is a laser beam generator with vibration isolating fluid mounting elements disposed therebetween to support the generator on a fluid medium during operation as a punching machine. A laser beam transport system extends forwardly along the side of the frame and has a beam redirection component to effect angular and planar reorientation of the beam at the front of the frame. A cutting head is mounted on the front of the head of the frame and has a nozzle and internal optics to focus the beam through the nozzle onto the workpiece, and the cutting head is movable from an operative position in which the nozzle is located on the axis of reciprocation of the punch ram to an inoperative position in which it is spaced therefrom.
Abstract:
A computer controlled machine performs punching and thermal cutting of workpieces at the same work station in the machine. First tool mounting means is provided on the ram assembly of the punch head and supports a punch for reciprocation by the ram member. Second tool mounting means is provided on the base of the machine for supporting a die in coaxial alignment with the punch. The machine includes thermal cutting means including power generating means, a thermal cutting head mountable in one of the tool mounting means with its cutting axis aligned with the axis of reciprocation of the ram member, and conduit means for coupling the head to the power generating means. Waste removal means is provided for mounting in the other of the tool mounting means. Computer control means will selectively and alternately operate the drive means for the ram member and the thermal cutting means, as well as move the workpiece along X and Y axes relative to the work station at which both are selectively operable. The thermal cutting means may be a laser cutting head utilizing oxygen assist for the cutting operation, or it may be a plasma cutting head. The cutting heads and cooperating waste collection devices may be stored in an automatic tool changing device for automatic insertion into the tool mounting means in response to commands from the computer control.
Abstract:
A surface grinding machine has a motor-driven grinding disc supported in a carrier movably supported above the base and a tool holding fixture on the base which is rotatable about a laterally offset axis. A control assembly includes a contact arm which is movable into an operative position to guide the tool into the initial grinding position, and includes means for moving the grinding disc downwardly against the tool surface in a controlled fashion upon movement of the contact arm into an inoperative position. The tool holding fixture is rotatable about its axis as the grinding disc rotates to eliminate substantially circular grooves and scratches in the tool being ground.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a manipulation system for workpieces, in which the individual workpieces are gripped by manipulator gripping arms and transported to predetermined locations in processing and/or magazine stations. For permitting a technically simple manipulation and transport of workpieces of different shapes by the use of tongs as gripping tools provided at the gripping arms, the invention provides that to an easily accessible wall of the respective workpiece a handling member is secured which is so designed and arranged as to permit the tongs to engage this handling member for transporting the workpiece e.g. from a magazine to the machine tool. Suitably, this handling member is in the form of a hollow pin which with an enlarged base is bonded to the workpiece and, after processing, may be knocked off or separated from the workpiece in some other manner.
Abstract:
In plasma/water cutting, in order to reduce the space required, it is suggested to construct the thermal cutting jet device so that water, required particularly to constrict the plasma jet, is removed by means of an annular suction nozzle or a ring of annular suction bores arranged around the thermal cutting jet device. In order to reduce the resulting noise, a spraying device can be arranged around the annular suction nozzle whose water is fed back to a tank either by a suction device for the cutting jet device, or by an additional suction device.
Abstract:
A machine, particularly for stamping or nibbling, comprises a reciprocating tool drive having a plurality of tools connected to the drive for selective reciprocation thereof. The drive includes means for stopping at least one of the tools for exchange purposes and a tool-change member is mounted for movement alongside the tool drive and includes a member movable transversely to the reciprocation direction for engaging and removing a tool which is stopped or disconnected from the drive in order to effect an exchange with another tool without stopping the drives of these other tools. The machine also includes means for engaging and moving a workpiece transverse to the reciprocating direction. One or more tools may be exchanged by the use of a movable conveyor magazine which carries a plurality of tool sets along its length which are selectively positionable into alignment with a fluid-pressure operated piston and cylinder combination having means for engaging a tool which is aligned therewith and positioning it in a location for engagement by the reciprocating drive for the tools of the machine.
