Abstract: A vehicle collision warning system and method detects a rear-center area impending collision and a rear-lateral-corner area impending collision, and controls an operator alarm in one of a standard mode and a towing mode. In the standard mode, the operator alarm is controlled to provide an alert to an operator when the rear-center area impending collision is detected and/or the rear-lateral-corner area impending collision is detected. In the towing mode, the operator alarm is controlled to provide the alert to the operator when the rear-lateral-corner area impending collision is detected by the rear-lateral-corner area impending collision detection module, and to provide no alert to the operator when the rear-center impending collision is detected by the rear-center area impending collision detection module.

Abstract: A method and system for providing absolute coordinate mapping using zone mapping input in a vehicle includes determining a touch input received on a touchpad located in the vehicle, presenting an absolute mapped position of the touch input on a display screen located in the vehicle, presenting one or more user interface objects on the display screen, and providing a plurality of display input zones corresponding to one or more user interface objects presented on the display screen. The method and system further include determining a user input to one of the one or more user interface objects presented on the display screen based on the absolute mapped position of the touch input on at least one of the one or more user interface objects presented on the display screen, and the plurality of display input zones on the display screen.

Abstract: According to one or more aspects, systems and methods for human-vehicle interaction are described herein. A touchpad may include a first touchpad zone and a second touchpad zone. A display may include a first display zone and a second display zone, which correspond to the first touchpad zone and the second touchpad zone, respectively. A processor may execute instructions stored on a memory to perform rendering a first application in a first mode within the first display zone of the display and rendering a second application in a second mode within the second display zone of the display. The processor, in response to an input from the touchpad, may render the already running second application in a first mode within the first display zone of the display and render the first application in a second mode within the second display zone of the display.

Abstract: A method and system for providing absolute and zone coordinate mapping with graphic animations include presenting a user interface in an inactive state, wherein a background graphic animation and a user interface object graphic animation are presented on the user interface in an inactive format. Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for a morphable pad and display configured for tactile control. The system comprises a display for displaying a user interface comprising a layout of vehicle control features. The display is configured to highlight a portion of the layout associated with a received highlight input, and to update the layout based on a received selection input. A morphable pad is connected to the display and comprises an array of switches. Each switch is configured to receive highlight input and selection input. The switches are also configured to adjust in tactile feel to match the layout, and to reconfigure in tactile feel responsive to a change in the layout.

Abstract: A system and method for controlling a vehicle system is presented. An icon is displayed on a display. The icon is associated with a function of the vehicle system and has an entrance zone about a center of the icon and an exit zone about the center of the icon. The exit zone is larger than the entrance zone. A location of a gaze of a user upon the display is detected using an eye gaze detection system. When the location of the gaze of the user is within the entrance zone, an indication that the icon is selected is presented. When the location of the gaze of the user is outside the exit zone, an indication that the icon is deselected is presented.
