Abstract: The present application provides a method for upgrading a virtualized network function and a network function virtualization orchestrator NFVO. The NFVO includes: a receiver, configured to receive an upgrade request message, the upgrade request message is configured to request the NFVO to upgrade a first software version corresponding to a first VNF to a second software version, the first software version corresponds to a first VNF instance, and the second software version corresponds to a second VNF instance; and a processor, configured to: instantiate the first VNF to obtain the second VNF instance; configure forwarding paths of service flows in an NS, so that a first service flow is forwarded to the first VNF instance and that a second service flow is forwarded to the second VNF instance; and terminate the first VNF instance if it is determined that the first VNF instance runs without loads within a preset time.

Abstract: Embodiments provide a fault management method, which can implement fault reporting and processing in an NFV environment. The method includes acquiring first fault information, including a faulty entity identifier and a fault type, of a network functions virtualization infrastructure NFVI entity, where the first fault information is used to indicate that a fault occurs in a first NFVI entity having the faulty entity identifier. The method also includes generating first comprehensive fault information according to the first fault information, where the first comprehensive fault information comprises the first fault information and correlated fault information of the first fault information. The method also includes performing fault repair or reporting processing according to the first comprehensive fault information.

Abstract: Embodiments provide a fault management method, which can implement fault reporting and processing in an NFV environment. The method includes acquiring first fault information, including a faulty entity identifier and a fault type, of a network functions virtualization infrastructure NFVI entity, where the first fault information is used to indicate that a fault occurs in a first NFVI entity having the faulty entity identifier. The method also includes generating first comprehensive fault information according to the first fault information, where the first comprehensive fault information comprises the first fault information and correlated fault information of the first fault information. The method also includes performing fault repair or reporting processing according to the first comprehensive fault information.

Abstract: Embodiments of this application provide a packet transmission method, a communication apparatus, and a communication system. A target transport layer proxy network element establishes a fourth transport layer connection based on a first context of a source transport layer proxy network element, where the first context is a context about packet transmission of the source transport layer proxy network element on a first path. If the target transport layer proxy network element receives first indication information, and the first indication information indicates that application context migration between a first application server and a second application server is completed, the target transport layer proxy network element performs transport layer processing on a packet on a second path based on a second context of the target transport layer proxy network element, and transmits, on the second path, a packet obtained through the transport layer processing. Hence, a packet loss can be avoided.

Abstract: According to a communication method and a communications apparatus, in a process in which an access network device serving a terminal is handed over from a source access network device to a target access network device, a user plane function network element may transmit first information to the source access network device. The first information is used to indicate that the user plane function network element bicasts downlink packets to the source access network device and the target access network device, so that after determining that a data packet received before the first information is sent to the terminal, the source access network device triggers an air interface handover, to avoid a packet loss in a handover process, or so that the source access network device synchronizes a PDCP SN of the source access network device with a PDCP SN of the target access network device.
