摘要: An electroactive sensing or actuating material comprises a composite made from a polymer with polarizable moieties and an effective amount of carbon nanotubes incorporated in the polymer for a predetermined electomechanical operation of the composite when such composite is affected by an external stimulus. In another embodiment, the composite comprises a third component of micro-sized to nano-sized particles of an electroactive ceramic that is also incorporated in the polymer matrix. The method for making the three-phase composite comprises either incorporating the carbon nanotubes in the polymer matrix before incorporation of the particles of ceramic or mixing the carbon nanotubes and particles of ceramic together in a solution before incorporation in the polymer matrix.

摘要: A method for forming an isolation layer of a semiconductor device, which comprises the steps of: a) sequentially forming a pad oxide layer and a pad nitride layer on a silicon substrate; b) etching the pad nitride layer, the pad oxide layer, and the silicon substrate, thereby forming a trench; c) thermal-oxidizing the resultant substrate to form a sidewall oxide layer on a surface of the trench; d) nitrifying the sidewall oxide layer through the use of NH3 annealing; e) depositing a liner aluminum nitride layer on an entire surface of the silicon substrate inclusive of the nitrated sidewall oxide layer; f) depositing a buried oxide layer on the liner aluminum nitride layer to fill the trench; g) performing a chemical mechanical polishing process with respect to the buried oxide layer; and h) eliminating the pad nitride layer.

摘要: An improved method for the production of single walled carbon nanotubes that utilizes an RF-induction heated side-pumped synthesis chamber for the production of such. Such a method, while capable of producing large volumes of carbon nanotubes, concurrently permits the use of a simplified apparatus that allows for greatly reduced heat up and cool down times and flexible flowpaths that can be readily modified for production efficiency optimization. The method of the present invention utilizes a free electron laser operating at high average and peak fluence to illuminate a rotating and translating graphite/catalyst target to obtain high yields of SWNTs without the use of a vacuum chamber.

摘要: Provided is a method of forming a color filter of an image sensor. The method is achieved by forming a trench region in a predetermined area after forming a top metal layer of a pixel of the image sensor, and forming the color filter in the trench region. A part of the color filter is formed to be convex through heat treatment to be used as a microlens. Since the color filter is formed in the trench region, optical cross talk is prevented and optical efficiency is improved.

摘要: A hard disk drive that redefines a notch filter of the drive. The update process may include initially disabling all notch filters and inducing a seek operation of the disk drive heads. A position error signal is read during a settling time of the seek operation and processed to determine the frequency of the signal. The frequency is selected as a resonant frequency if the error signal magnitude exceeds a threshold value. The notch filter is then redefined in accordance with the selected resonant frequency. The controller may also perform a routine to determine whether the resonant frequency is above or below a Nyquist frequency. Unlike prior art techniques, the method disclosed can obtain the resonant frequency without sweeping the excitation signal of the disk drive voice coil motor.
