Abstract:
Pool cover tracking systems are used to cover and uncover pool covers over pools. A leading edge bar 110 is connected to the pool cover 102. The leading edge bar 110 is also operatively connected to opposing slider assemblies 112, 114 which traverse about opposing tracks 106,108. A connector 120 is utilized to connect the leading edge bar 110 to the slider assemblies 112, 114. The connector 120 is an endcap having a first mating member 162 adapted to removably mate with a second mating member 166 of the leading edge bar 110. The endcap 120 further has a receiver 164 to slidingly receive and slidingly retain a component of a slider assembly 112, 114. The receiver 164 allows for lateral movement of the slider assembly 112, 114 in the endcap 120 to assist in preventing jams of the pool cover tracking system. The receiver 164 may also have a plurality of apertures 174, each of which can engage the slider assembly 112, 114 to allow for vertical alignment of the leading edge bar 110.
Abstract:
A system and method are provided for estimating the initial level of an analyte in a sample based on an actual level observed, a time of storage of the sample, a storage temperature, and a type of container in which said sample is stored. Equations are generated for a particular analyte based on observations of actual analyte levels initially after a sample is drawn, as well as at various times thereafter. The time of storage, the temperature of storage, and the type of container are observed along with actual analyte level in each observation. The equations generated are considered useful if the estimated initial values are more accurate than the actual observed final values.
Abstract:
A security device for transporting monies from a cash acceptance terminal to a bank or similar safe location includes a note tube and a pair of flexible bags containing dye. Cutters operated by explosive devices when an unauthorised attempt is made to break into the note tube pass down the sides of the bags and rip them open. There is provided spring loaded pressure plates which serve to compress the bags to cause the dye to be ejected effectively into the note tube to stain all the notes therein.
Abstract:
In one aspect, an anchoring device is disclosed, including: a degradable substrate with a first hardness; and a granular gripping material associated with the outer extent of the degradable substrate, wherein the granular gripping material has a second hardness greater than the first hardness. In certain embodiments, the granular gripping material is degradable. In another aspect, a method to anchor a downhole device is disclosed, including: providing a degradable substrate with a first hardness; and applying a granular gripping material to the outer extent of the degradable substrate, wherein the granular gripping material has a second hardness greater than the first hardness.
Abstract:
A mobile phone that uses OS virtualization for minimizing power consumption in mobile phones is provided. A mobile phone according to the invention may include a plurality of application stacks and a plurality of processor cores. Each of the application stacks preferably corresponds to one of the plurality of processor cores. The mobile phone also includes a hypervisor. In a first state, the hypervisor allocates tasks from each of the application stacks to the processor core that corresponds to the respective application stack. In a second state, the hypervisor allocates selected tasks from the plurality of application stacks to a single processor core. The second state may be an idle state and the tasks that are allocated to the single processor core may be periodic tasks.
Abstract:
A method for controlling the operation of a mobile phone backlight. The method may include receiving an incoming call. The method may also include receiving a selection from a user in response to receiving the incoming call. The method may include storing information relating to the selection received from the user. The method may further include turning off the mobile phone backlight after the passing of a predetermined time span of user inaction. The passing of the predetermined time span may follow the selection received from the user. The length of the predetermined time span may be determined at least in part using an algorithm. The method may also include modifying the algorithm based at least in part on the stored information.
Abstract:
A portable hand-held bandage dispenser includes a cartridge containing a multiplicity of self-adhesive bandages, and a dispenser with an end slot housing the bandages. In addition, a feeding mechanism is disposed within and outside the dispenser housing for advancing the uppermost self-adhesive bandage into contact with an ejection device. The ejection device engages a top surface of the bandages and pushes it at least partially to the exterior of the dispenser housing. A spring disposed within the dispenser housing returns the feeding mechanism to a neutral position.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, a method comprising selecting a first node included in a data structure, the data structure representing, in a node-and-link representation, a first portion of electronic content, the data structure including a first external link being associated with the first node, the first external link referencing a first serialization, the first serialization representing a second portion of electronic content in a representation differing from the node-and-link representation of the data structure, augmenting the data structure using the first serialization comprising constructing a set of new nodes, the set of new nodes including all nodes constructible from the serialization, selecting a target node from among the set of new nodes, inserting the target node into the data structure, and inserting a first inter-node link into the data structure, the first inter-node link connecting the first node and the target node, the first inter-node link corresponding to the first external link.
Abstract:
A pest control system (20) includes pest control devices (110) installed about an area or building (22). These devices (110) each include a bait member and a communication circuit. The communication circuit may be in the form of a passive RF tag that transmits information indicative of bait status and an identifier unique to each pest control device (110). A hand held interrogator (30) is provided to locate and communicate with the pest control devices (110) via the communication circuit. A data collection unit (40) to accumulate data gathered from the pest control devices (110) may alternatively or additionally be utilized. The bait member may be configured with a magnetic component to provide a magnetic signature indicative of the bait consumption behavior of targeted varieties of pest. The devices optionally include one or more environmental sensors to evaluate and predict pest behavior.
Abstract:
A second system that comprises a receiver and an emulator. The receiver receives a packet from a first system on which a first operating system executes. The packet comprises information associated with a device driver call that comports with a device protocol of the first system and that originated on the first system. The emulator converts the packet's information associated with the device driver to a device protocol of a second operating system. The second operating system is different than the first operating system.
