Abstract:
This invention relates to a method and a device for intermediate cooling in an oil-injected multi-stage screw compressor. Between the outlet (14) in one stage (10) and the inlet (16) in a subsequent stage (11) a connecting passageway (15) is located, through which the gas compressed in the firstmentioned stage (10) is supplied to the subsequent stage (11). For cooling the gas flowing out from the firstmentioned stage (10), in the connecting passageway (15) at least one nozzle (19) is located for the supply of a large cooling oil amount.
Abstract:
Reconstituted surfactants comprising a lipid carrier, a polypeptide analog of the native surfactant protein SP-C, and a polypeptide analog of the native surfactant protein SP-B are useful for the treatment and/or prophylaxis of RDS and other respiratory disorders.
Abstract:
In various embodiments, lined underground reservoirs and/or insulated pipeline vessels are utilized for storage of compressed fluid in conjunction with energy storage and recovery systems.
Abstract:
The present invention provides non-naturally occurring polypeptides that are oxidation resistant and have cholesterol efflux activity that parallels that of full-length apolipoproteins (e.g., Apo AI and Apo E), and having high selectivity for ABACI that parallels that of full-length apolipoproteins. The invention also provides compositions comprising such polypeptides, methods of identifying, screening and synthesizing such polypeptides, methods of treating, preventing or diagnosing diseases and disorders associated with dyslipidemia, hypercholesterolemia and inflammation; and diagnostic methods employing the peptides to evaluated cholesterol efflux activity.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a family of non-naturally occurring polypeptides having cholesterol efflux activity that parallels that of full-length apolipoproteins (e.g., Apo AI and Apo E), and having high selectivity for ABAC1 that parallels that of full-length apolipoproteins. The invention also provides compositions comprising such polypeptides, methods of identifying, screening and synthesizing such polypeptides, and methods of treating, preventing or diagnosing diseases and disorders associated with dyslipidemia, hypercholesterolemia and inflammation.
Abstract:
The invention provides an isolated major ampullate spidroin protein, which consists of from 150 to 420 amino acid residues and is defined by the formula REP-CT. REP is a repetitive, N-terminally derived protein fragment having from 80 to 300 amino acid residues. CT is a C-terminally derived protein fragment having from 70 to 120 amino acid residues. The invention further provides an isolated fusion protein consisting of a first protein fragment, which is a major ampullate spidroin protein, and a second protein fragment comprising a fusion partner and a cleavage agent recognition site. The first protein fragment is coupled via said cleavage agent recognition site to the fusion partner. The invention also provides a method of producing a major ampullate spidroin protein and polymers thereof.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a reconstituted surfactant comprising a lipid carrier, a polypeptide analog of the native surfactant protein SP-C, and a polypeptide analog of the native surfactant protein SP-B. The invention is also directed to the pharmaceutical compositions thereof and to a use thereof in the treatment or prophylaxis of RDS and other respiratory disorders.
Abstract:
A method of producing polymers of an isolated spider silk protein involves providing a solution of said spider silk protein in a liquid medium at pH 6.4 or higher and/or an ion composition that prevents polymerisation of the spider silk protein. The properties of the liquid medium are adjusted to a pH of 6.3 or lower and an ion composition that allows polymerisation of the spider silk protein. The spider silk protein is allowed to form polymers in the liquid medium, and the resulting spider silk protein polymers are isolated from the liquid medium. The resulting polymers are useful as fibers, films, foams, nets or meshes.
Abstract:
A milling tool intended for chip-removing machining includes a basic body rotatable around a geometrical centre axis and peripherically spaced-apart, detachable cutting inserts, which separately are securable in insert pockets adjacent to chip channels formed in the basic body. The individual cutting insert have at least one edge formed between a chip surface on the top side of the cutting insert and a clearance surface along the periphery side of the cutting insert, and the individual insert pocket is arranged to secure the individual cutting insert in a position in which the chip surface is inclined in relation to the centre axis while forming a positive angle of inclination.
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods enable active compensation for unwanted discrepancies in the superconducting elements of quantum processor. A qubit may include a primary compound Josephson junction (CJJ) structure, which may include at least a first secondary CJJ structure to enable compensation for Josephson junction asymmetry in the primary CJJ structure. A qubit may include a series LC-circuit coupled in parallel with a first CJJ structure to provide a tunable capacitance. A qubit control system may include means for tuning inductance of a qubit loop, for instance a tunable coupler inductively coupled to the qubit loop and controlled by a programming interface, or a CJJ structure coupled in series with the qubit loop and controlled by a programming interface.
