    摘要: In a retrievable packer adapted for service under high temperature and high pressure operating conditions, improved retention of the packer in the wellbore is achieved by use of an inventive slip/wedge system, wherein the cones on the wedges are spaced a progressively slightly greater distance apart from their corresponding slip cones, from the centermost slip cone to the outermost slip cone. This forces the center of the slip to be loaded first. As greater forces are exerted on the wedges from end to end, the wedge will deform slightly and the next cone of the wedge will make contact with its matching portion of slip. Thereby, as the wedges are loaded higher and higher, more wedge cones come into bearing contact with the slip. Further, a barrel slip is used, to provide a uniform circumferential distribution of forces. This design effectively allows initial setting of the packer with very little slip tooth contact area. This permits the slip to quickly get a good grip into the casing wall. Subsequent higher loading brings more and more slip teeth to bear and prevents overstressing the casing.

    摘要: A decentralizer for a diverter, a centralizing guide bushing and a downhole-deployable locating and orienting subsystem. The subsystem is capable of three modes of operation: (a) a running mode in which an actuating mandrel is in a first axial limit position with respect to a common mandrel, the actuating mandrel placing first and second double-acting springs in a stowed position wherein locating and orienting keys are retracted radially inwardly with respect to the common mandrel to shield the locating and orienting keys from substantial contact with a surrounding well flow conductor as the common mandrel traverses therethrough, (b) a locating mode in which the actuating mandrel is in an intermediate axial position with respect to the common mandrel, the actuating mandrel placing the first and second double-acting springs in a deployed position resiliently to bias the locating and orienting keys radially outwardly with respect to the common mandrel to seek a locating and orienting profile on an inner surface of a surrounding honed bore within the surrounding well flow conductor, and (c) a set mode in which the actuating mandrel is in a second axial limit position with respect to the common mandrel, the actuating mandrel directly engaging and stiffly retaining the locating and orienting keys in engagement with the locating and orienting profile thereby to fix the common mandrel in a desired location and orientation with respect to the honed bore.

    摘要: A drilling template for multiple wells has a dummy post on the template associate with each wellhead position and a wellhead connector is transferable between the dummy post and wellhead during completion and workover operations. A subsea wellhead is provided with a guide frame on which a dummy post is supported permitting the wellhead connector to be transferred between the dummy post and the wellhead. The wellhead includes a landing nipple and tubing hanger which permit the tubing hanger to tilt relative to the casing head without breaking the seal between the hanger and nipple. The wellhead connector is latched and released from the tubing head by reciprocation of a control sleeve and the connector is held in the unlatched position by a releasable lock. The wellhead connector includes a plug having a metal seal held in compression together with a resilient seal.

    摘要: A system and method for attaching and removing equipment from a subsea wellhead in which equipment is lowered and raised on a flexible riser pipe, cables extend from the equipment to the wellhead and are winched in and out to control movement of the equipment adjacent the wellhead. While the cables are being winched in or out, the cables are maintained in tension by the cable reel or a motion compensator, between the equipment and riser pipe, permits the riser pipe to reciprocate vertically with the vessel in response to wave action, while the equipment is insulated from this action during engagement and disengagement with the wellhead. The equipment may include a guide frame, which may be made in two pieces, so that the upper section of the guide frame together with a riser pipe connector, may be released from the remainder of the frame and connector and lifted off by the riser pipe or by buoyancy means. The cable winch system may thereafter be used to reconnect the riser pipe lower connector to the remainder of the equipment. Whether a one or two piece frame is used, after the frame is landed on the wellhead with the equipment spaced from the wellhead, the equipment is preferably lowered into engagement with the wellhead. The motion compensator between the frame and riser pipe may provide this function.

A cover sleeve resides over the fluid impermeable portion of the base pipe. A drain tube with a fluid permeable sidewall resides exterior to the base pipe and screen, affixed to the cover sleeve. The drain tube is adapted to communicate fluid from the wellbore around the fluid impermeable portion to the screen.

    摘要: Apparatus and methods for controlling the flow of fluid, such as formation fluid, through an oilfield tubular positioned in a wellbore extending through a subterranean formation. Fluid flow is autonomously controlled in response to change in a fluid flow characteristic, such as density or viscosity. In one embodiment, a fluid diverter is movable between an open and closed position in response to fluid density change and operable to restrict fluid flow through a valve assembly inlet. The diverter can be pivotable, rotatable or otherwise movable in response to the fluid density change. In one embodiment, the diverter is operable to control a fluid flow ratio through two valve inlets. The fluid flow ratio is used to operate a valve member to restrict fluid flow through the valve.
