    摘要: The present invention relates to a process for the modification of thermoplastic aromatic polycarbonates containing aromatically bonded halogen, primary alkyl, secondary alkyl and/or alkenyl substituents, characterized in that these polycarbonates are irradiated with UV light, after adding between about 1 and 5% by weight, preferably between about 1 and 3% by weight, relative to the weight of polycarbonate, of photoinitiators and optionally between about 0.05 and 5% by weight, preferably between about 0.1 and 2% by weight, relative to the weight of polycarbonate, of flame-proofing agents. The present invention also relates to the modified polycarbonates obtainable by the process according to the invention.

    摘要: The present invention relates to glass fiber reinforced thermoplastic polycarbonate molding compositions whose toughness and elastic properties have been improved by the incorporation of 1 to 5 wt.% of poly-(2,6-dialkyl-1,4-phenyleneoxide). These compositions contain between 10 and 30 wt.% glass fibers and display improved properties even after extended times at high humidity. The polyphenylene oxides preferably have M.sub.w between 2,000 and 100,000, most preferably 20,000 and 60,000. A particularly suitable additive is poly-(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene oxide).

    摘要: This disclosure is concerned with an improved process for preparing polymer blends by synthesizing a polyester by the phase boundary condensation synthesis wherein a preformed polymer is dissolved in the organic solvent phase of the synthesis system. This polymer is inert to the diphenol acid chloride and alkali used to form the polyester and differs from this polyester by at least molecular weight and may differ from it in chemical identity. This disclosure is also concerned with the polymer blends so obtained which display superior properties to those obtained by physically blending two already formed polymers.
