    摘要: Two logic circuits (4A, 4B) are utilized in alternation for controlling the processing of successive pixels that are detected to be erroneous. Each logic circuit has its own counter 5A and 5B for associating the undisturbed pixels with ordinal numbers designating their spacing from the disturbed pixel under processing and likewise has a separate PROM (6A, 6B) and a separate multiplier for weighting the undisturbed pixel values, as well as an accumulator (10A, 10B) for summing the weighted values to produce a substitute value, so that undisturbed pixels lying between two disturbed pixels can all be used, where necessary, both for compensating for a preceding disturbed pixel and a following disturbed pixel. When a following disturbed pixel is detected while a preceding disturbed pixel is being processed by a logic circuit, that logic circuit provides a special reset to its counter and accumulator and selects another PROM program in accordance with the shortening of the "filter length" by the nearness of the two disturbed pixels. When no defective pixels appear on the counters, multipliers and accumulators do not need to operate.

    摘要: A full-frame memory for television signals is filled while the tape transport speed is reduced to a small fraction of its normal speed while a selected of the head-wheel of a recorder-reproducer first records a segment of a frame recorded in one oblique track, then is switched to reproduction that reads the track just recorded. In the next frame a second segment is similarly recorded, reproduced and stored for the second frame, and so on. After a complete set of segments are put in memory a complete composite picture can be reproduced therefrom and of course the content of the memory can be displayed in the intervals between the recording of segments. A pixel error detector is used both for displaying errors by setting all recognizably faulty pixels to picture black and also counting the number of recognizably defective pixels per segment. While this evaluation procedure is being run, the recording current, the pre-emphasis and the de-emphasis adjustments can be varied so that they can ultimately be set at the settings which produce the lowest error rate in the reproduced picture.

    摘要: In a serial binary digit stream, when a single bit follows at least two bits of the opposite polarity and is succeeded also by a bit of that opposite polarity, a comparator produces a correction signal which is combined with the first-mentioned bit so as to broaden it in time span. As a result, the amplitude of reception or reproduction of the broadened bit is enhanced so as to compensate for deficiency of amplitude which would result from the imperfection of the transmission channel or recording and reproduction process. The broadening of the critical bit pulse can be performed by a correction pulse that enhances its amplitude, followed by Nyquist filtering and then by amplitude limiting to the normal binary digit amplitude level, or else the broadening can be accomplished by providing a correction pulse shifted in phase by an adjustably shifted clock pulse or train. In the latter case, the phase shifted correction pulse is combined with the critical pulse so as to broaden it, either at the expense of the preceding pulse or at the expense of the pulse that follows.

In such a code, there are successive ranges of the analog signal in which the number of bits of one logic level remains the same, and within said ranges the change in digital words from one analog level to the next involves the change of two bits of the word. The digital words are serially provided for recording or transmission.

    摘要: To store digital data on a magnetic tape at a bit rate which does not exceed the storage capabilities of the tape of about 80 Mbit/s, although received digital video signals have a bit rate of about 200 Mbit/s, the video signals are split into two channels and applied to a head wheel having four transducer heads, and the bits are applied to the transducer heads in time-expanded form, with the wrap angle of the tape exceeding 180.degree., time expansion being carried out at a rate related to the excess wrap angle, so that the track of recording will have a smaller recording angle (.beta.2) than heretofore (.beta.1), the time-expanded signals being recompressed upon reproduction. Time compression and expansion is preferably carried out by buffer memories which have data entered and read-out in the FIFO method, at respectively different clock rates, switched under control of a control unit (26) which receives head wheel position input signal information.

    摘要: A process and associated apparatus for digitally clamping pulse code modulated video signals is disclosed, including four separate preferred embodiments. The disclosed process first requires that during each horizontal scanning interval a difference between the binary value of the pulse code modulated video signal and a predetermined nominal binary value be determined. This difference is then arithmetically averaged with at least one similarly determined difference obtained during a prior horizontal scanning interval to obtain a binary correction value. The binary correction value is then added to the binary value of the pulse code modulated video signal which is to be clamped outside the horizontal scanning interval in the active range of a horizontal period.

    摘要: For reducing the d.c. component of a digital signal in which a good many data words are put together in data blocks each having the same number of words, a supplementary word is derived and is transmitted or stored along with the data words. The bit mix of the supplementary word contains information for shifting the word bit-mix range, defined in accordance with the d.c. component of various words of the data words in the data block. The bit-mix value of the supplementary word is derived by evaluation of the weighting of ASE-coded data words in the data block, this being done in a manner dependent on the standard deviation and an expected value or center of gravity of the data block. A difference value determined with respect to the center of gravity and the value of a middle level value of a data word represents the value of the supplementary word with which, by the use of the modulo-2 addition the digital signal is shifted in bit-mix value range. The supplementary word is transmitted or recorded with each data block and is used in an operation which is the inverse of what is done before recording or transmission so that the original digital signal will be available again.
