    摘要: New and useful low viscosity polymeric colorant formulations are provided comprising extremely low amounts of viscosity modifiers that drastically reduce the overall viscosity of the resultant colorant formulation as compared with the viscosity of the colorants themselves. In such a manner, the resultant formulation facilitates the utilization of such polymeric colorants within certain coloring processes and methods requiring low viscosity formulations while simultaneously permitting substantial retention of the same high color strength characteristics of the unmodified colorants. Such an unexpected result thus permits production and utilization of a low viscosity formulation that does not sacrifice colorability to an appreciable degree for target substrates or media. The inventive formulations thus comprise any number of polymeric colorants, (i.e., oxyalkylenated colorants comprising at least one chromophore constituent and at least oxyalkylene chain) and at least one viscosity modifying agent possessing a dipole moment of between 1.0 and 5.0 and/or a flash point of from about −20° C. to about 180° C. Such a modifying agent provides a significant reduction in viscosity at low levels (to permit better pumpability of the desired colorants) with no appreciable differences in coloring performance within final target media, and facilitates removal of such modifiers during or after utilization. Methods of production, utilization, and products produced with such formulations and by such methods are also encompassed within this invention.

    摘要: Novel ultraviolet absorbing compounds that are liquid in nature, are extremely low in color (and thus permit use without the concomitant necessity of adding large amounts of other coloring agents to combat such discoloring), and are highly effective in providing protection in wavelength ranges for which previous attempts at low-color ultraviolet absorbers have failed are provided herein. Such compounds provide such excellent, inexpensive, and beneficial protection from ultraviolet exposure within various media, including, but not limited to, clear thermoplastics. The particular compounds are generally polymeric in nature including various chain lengths of polyoxyalkylenes thereon and are liquid in nature to facilitate handling and introduction within the target media. In addition, such ultraviolet absorbers also exhibit extremely low migratory properties thereby providing long-term protective benefits to the target media as well. This invention also concerns the end products, specific broadly defined types of compounds providing such beneficial characteristics, methods of making such low-color compounds, and methods of producing such clear, UV protected end products.

The compounds may be useful to prevent yellowing and deterioration of organic materials preferably polymers, such as polyurethane foams as one example. The lactone antioxidants may be polymeric, and may also be liquid or paste in physical form at room temperature. Although it is not necessary for its stabilizing properties, the compositions may, in some species, bear one or more reactive primary OH groups on the polymer chains. The chains may also contain oligomeric oxyalkylene ether and aliphatic ester functional groups, in one embodiment of the invention.

    摘要: Black polyurethane foams that exhibit higher strength black colorations without the need for concomitant increases in black colorants therein are provided. Such a resultant jetter black foam article is possible through the unexpectedly effective introduction of small amounts of certain toner compounds or combinations that exhibit specific measurable appearance characteristics. Such toners exhibit at least one absorption peak within a specific range of wavelengths (e.g., from about 560 to 610 nm) and specific ranges of half-height bandwidths (from 40 to 130 nm). Furthermore, such a compound or combination of compounds, is preferably liquid in nature (at room temperature) or in dispersion form and may thus be easily incorporated within target polyurethane precursor compositions for admixture with either black pigments (or dispersions thereof), black polymeric (liquid) colorants, or both. Methods of high strength black polyurethane foam production as well as separate pigmented and liquid polymeric colored foams of such type including the necessary toner compounds and/or combinations, as noted above, are also encompassed within this invention.

    摘要: The invention provides novel colored toner and developer compositions containing polymeric colorants. Such compositions may contain poly(oxyalkylene) or poly(alkylester) substituted color chromophores which are attached to relatively long chained ologomers.
