摘要: In a BBW type brake device, if a slave cylinder becomes inoperable, when a master cylinder is operated for the first time, a master cut valve is opened to charge brake fluid into a reservoir of a hydraulic modulator, and since the brake fluid charged into the reservoir is increased in pressure by driving a hydraulic pump when the master cut valve is closed, wheel cylinders are operated. Since the amount of brake fluid on the downstream side relative to the master cut valve is increased by charging the reservoir with brake fluid, it is possible to increase the pressure of the brake fluid of the reservoir by driving the hydraulic pump and generate brake fluid pressure by a hydraulic modulator that is higher than the brake fluid pressure generated by the master cylinder, thereby generating sufficient braking force without increasing the depressing force applied to a brake pedal.

摘要: During normal operation in which a motor cylinder is operative, when a depressing force cut-off valve is closed, a front wheel is braked by operating a first wheel cylinder by brake fluid pressure generated by the motor cylinder. When there is an abnormality in which the motor cylinder breaks down, the front wheel is braked by supplying, via the opened depressing force cut-off valve, brake fluid pressure generated by a master cylinder operated by a driver's braking operation to the first wheel cylinder, and a rear wheel is braked by supplying the brake fluid pressure to a second wheel cylinder. Thus, since both the front and rear wheels are braked by the brake fluid pressure generated by the master cylinder in case of abnormality, a vehicle can be reliably stopped by a sufficient braking force.

摘要: A brake system includes a master cylinder which generates brake fluid pressure by a braking operation of a driver, an electric motor-driven slave cylinder which generates brake fluid pressure based on an electric signal responsive to a braking operation of a driver, and a wheel cylinder for braking a wheel by the brake fluid generated in the master cylinder or slave cylinder. During normal operation of the brake system, the brake fluid generated in the slave cylinder is transferred to the wheel cylinder. During abnormal operation of the brake system, the brake fluid generated in the master cylinder is transferred to the wheel cylinder. The brake system also includes an opening and closing valve in a fluid passage connecting the slave cylinder to the wheel cylinder. When a problem occurs with the slave cylinder, the opening and closing valve is closed for a predetermined amount of time.

摘要: A first rotor (24; 124) and a second rotor (25; 125) are arranged in a coaxial and mutually rotatable relationship and are provided with a first driven gear (41; 141) and a second driven gear (42; 142), respectively. A drive shaft (31; 131) is also provided with a first drive gear (43; 143) and a second drive gear (44; 144) which are commonly connected to an output shaft of an electric motor (32; 132), and mesh with the first and second driven gears, respectively, at slightly different gear ratios. The first and second rotors are connected via a thread feed mechanism (36; 136) that converts a relative rotation between the first and second rotors into an axial linear movement between the first and second rotors that is used for changing a distance between a vehicle body part and a corresponding end of a suspension spring in a vehicle height adjusting system (9; 109). Owing to a differential rotation of a high gear ratio between the first and second rotors, a significant torque amplification is possible with a compact arrangement. The use of spur gears instead of a worm gear mechanism minimizes torque loss.

摘要: A brake apparatus for a vehicle includes a brake operation unit, a master cylinder, and an electrically controlled hydraulic source. The brake apparatus also includes a wheel cylinder to retard rotation of a wheel using hydraulic pressure generated either by the master cylinder or the electrically controlled hydraulic source. The brake apparatus further includes a hydraulic path connecting the master cylinder, the wheel cylinder, and the electrically controlled hydraulic source. The brake apparatus further includes a shut-off valve electrically controlled and operated to alternatively close and open part of the hydraulic path, an operation pressure measuring unit measuring hydraulic pressure generated by the master cylinder, and a braking pressure measuring unit measuring hydraulic pressure acting on the wheel cylinder. Operation of the apparatus is controlled by a control unit capable of changing magnitude of drive current to be supplied to the shut-off valves depending on values measured by the operation pressure measuring unit and the braking pressure measuring unit.

摘要: A process for calculating estimated vehicle speeds on the basis of wheel speeds of the vehicle wheels and a value resulting from addition of an offset value corresponding to an output error including a dispersion component and a slope component of an output from a longitudinal acceleration/deceleration sensor to a detection value detected by the longitudinal acceleration/deceleration sensor. In a condition in which it is determined that a vehicle is traveling at a substantially constant speed for a relatively long period of time, a first correction amount is calculated from an average value of variations in wheel speeds and an average value of outputs from the longitudinal acceleration/deceleration sensor during the long period of time. In a condition in which it is determined that the vehicle is traveling at a substantially constant speed for a relatively short period of time, a second correction amount is calculated from the average value of variations in wheel speeds and the average values of outputs from the longitudinal acceleration/deceleration sensor during the short period of time. An amount of correction of the zero point of the longitudinal acceleration/deceleration sensor is determined by the first correction amount, and the correction of the offset value is determined by the second correction amount.

摘要: A vehicle brake apparatus in which a self-locked state of a cut-off valve is quickly relieved if the valve becomes stuck in the self-locked state. The vehicle brake apparatus comprises a master cylinder to have wheel cylinders generate a braking force, master cut-off valves of a normally open type, a slave cylinder electrically driven to apply a braking force to the wheel cylinders. The apparatus also includes pressure sensors for detecting brake fluid pressures generated by the master cylinder and the slave cylinder, and out-valves through which the brake fluid pressure on the wheel cylinders is reduced. If the brake fluid pressure corresponding to a depressing stroke of a brake pedal becomes higher than a valve openable pressure on the master cut-off valves while the brake pedal is being operated, the brake fluid pressure on the wheel cylinders is reduced through the out-valves.

摘要: Systems and methods to prevent dragging of a fluid pressure type disk brake system are described herein. Brake fluid pressure generated by a master cylinder during a braking operation is transmitted to a wheel cylinder via a VSA system. The VSA system includes a low pressure accumulator and an out-valve disposed between the wheel cylinder and the low pressure accumulator. Temporarily opening the out-valve during a braking operation allows part of the brake fluid that would otherwise be supplied to the wheel cylinder to be supplied to the low pressure accumulator. After the braking operation by the driver is completed, brake fluid supplied to the wheel cylinder is returned to the master cylinder. Thus, a piston of the wheel cylinder is withdrawn by an extra amount corresponding to the amount of brake fluid supplied to the low pressure accumulator, thus reliably prevents disk pad dragging in the disk brake system.
