摘要： An optical fiber cutting apparatus comprises a coated section holder, an uncoated section holder, and a cutter. A ferromagnetic substance or a magnet is disposed on a surface of the uncoated section holder and a surface of the cutter holder which are facing each other. A ferromagnetic substance or a plurality of magnet having different magnetic force are disposed with equal interval on the uncoated section holder or the cutter holder. Tension is applied to the optical fiber by repulsing-force which exists among a magnet, a first magnet, and the second magnet. Tension which is applied to the optical fiber increases gradually. By doing this, an optical fiber cutting apparatus is provided which does not decrease strength of the optical fiber.

摘要： A surface mount type antenna and a communication terminal using the same. A radiator electrode is provided on a first principal face of a substrate. A ground electrode is provided on the second principal face of the substrate. A first feeder electrode has at least a portion thereof provided on a side face and on the second principal face of the substrate. A second feeder electrode is provided on an inner wall face of a hole formed parallel to the first and second principal faces. The first feeder electrode and the ground electrode are kept in a non-contact state. The first feeder electrode and the second feeder electrode are in electrical contact. A mobile communication terminal using the surface-mount type antenna is small in size, exhibits small variations in characteristics, and provides high productivity and reliability.

摘要： A surgical instrument for treatment in the body cavity, in which an open-close member for treatment is rockably mounted by of a pivot pin on the distal end portion of a sheath to be inserted into the body cavity, and is connected to the distal end of a rod passed through the sheath, by a cam mechanism including a cam groove and a cam pin in engagement therewith. As the rod is moved by an operating handle, the cam mechanism is activated to open and close the open-close member for treatment. The component members of the cam mechanism have external shapes such that those portions on the proximal end side of the position near the pivot pin do not project from the sheath in every operating state.

With the above design, the desired adapter having the proper guides and can be selected and used in accordance with the size and shape of a single core fiber in use, so that the cutting apparatus can be applied to optical fibers with different sizes and shapes.

摘要： A thrust bearing having a spiral element and a flat element is provided wherein both elements are arranged so as to be rotatable relative to each other and the spiral element is made completely of ceramics in a disk form having a pattern of spiral grooves on the surface thereof that opposes the flat element. The spiral grooves are formed by a shot-blasting process applied through a resin mask having a spiral pattern, the depth of the grooves being kept within a range of between 3 .mu.m and 50 .mu.m and the ratio of the outer diameter of the spiral element to the thickness of the spiral element being arranged to be aout 10: at least 0.4 or over.
