Abstract: A system and method for updating a filtering system which controls access to a website/page between a local area network (LAN) and an Internet. The LAN includes an Internet gateway system coupled to a workstation and configured to receive a URL request. The system controls access to the website/page associated with the URL based on one or more categories that are associated with the URL. The Internet gateway system can determine the category that is associated with the URL by referencing a master database or requesting the category from a database factory. The database factory can receive URLs from multiple Internet gateway systems. The database factory determines whether the identifier was previously categorized by the database factory and provides the category to the Internet gateway system. Once the Internet gateway system has the category, it applies rules associated with the category and user to filter access to the requested website/page.

Abstract: An integrated medical software system with embedded transcription functionality is disclosed. The system comprises a clinical module for capturing clinical data for a patient in a first electronic document and a communication component that communicates the clinical data to a rule-based clinical decision support (CDS) system and receives at least one of an alert, warning, reminder, and recommendation back from the CDS system based on the clinical data. The CDS system is configured to compare the clinical data against a knowledge base to identify the at least one of an alert, warning, reminder, and recommendation; the clinical data is serialized into a standardized database language and placed into a first electronic clinical document defined by a clinical document exchange standard before being communicated to the CDS system; and the at least one of an alert, warning, reminder, and recommendation is provided in a second electronic clinical document defined by the clinical document exchange standard when received back from the CDS system.

Abstract: A reader for electro-optically reading two-dimensional symbols of different heights, includes a scanner for scanning the symbols with light in a raster scan pattern of an adjustable height, and for detecting light scattered from the symbols to generate electrical signals indicative of the detected light. A controller not only decodes the electrical signals to read the symbols, but also controls the scanner to adjust the height of the raster scan pattern, and optionally the rate of height adjustment, upon a determination that a symbol being scanned is a two-dimensional symbol, and that the two-dimensional symbol has not been read after a predetermined time period has elapsed. The controller can also be programmed to read symbols only of a certain height.

Abstract: A home agent, attached to a home network, receives, adapts and forwards messages intended for a mobile node attached to one of a plurality foreign networks. The home agent, having received a message, passes the message on to a processing unit to assess whether the message should be adapted so as to be compatible with the destination foreign network and to adapt the message accordingly. The adapted message is returned to the home agent to be encapsulated and tunnelled to a foreign agent attached to the destination foreign network. The foreign agent decapsulates the message and passes it on to the mobile node. This method has the advantage that the mobile node is able to receive messages regardless of the type of network to which it is attached.
