摘要: In optical disk having a track formed of groove tracks and land tracks connected every revolution to form a single spiral, each revolution-of the tracks is divided into sectors, each having identification signal region at the head of the sector, and the identification signal regions in tracks adjacent to each other are aligned in the radial direction. Prepits are formed in the identification signal region, on an extension of a boundary between groove and land tracks adjacent to each other. The prepits have a width substantially equal to the width of the grooves. The identification signal including address information of the sector. The polarity of tracking error signal is detected at the identification signal region of the recording sector, and whether the recording sector is in a groove track or land track is determined based on the polarity of tracking error signal. The identification signal may include information concerning the timing for switching tracking polarity in accordance with whether groove or land sector is being scanned.

摘要: A method and apparatus for controlling surface pressure exerted on a movable magnetic head by a recording medium to provide optimum contact between the movable magnetic head and the recording medium with high precision in a wide frequency range. An estimated surface pressure exerted by the recording medium on the movable magnetic head is determined based upon an electrical simulation of the characteristics of the movable magnetic head. The estimated surface pressure exerted is compared to a reference surface pressure in order to develop a surface pressure control signal. The surface pressure tension of the magnetic recording medium and the position of the movable magnetic head may be controlled in accordance with the surface pressure control signal.

摘要: A movable head position controlling device for magnetic recording and reproducing apparatuses. The position of a magnetic head is detected. The magnetic head is driven by an actuator in accordance with a driving signal. The driving signal is corrected on the basis of the estimated speed of the magnetic head, the absolute height of the movable head, the displacement of the magnetic head, or the output of an equivalent coil. The speed of the magnetic head is estimated by a speed estimating observer. The absolute height is detected by a magnetic field detecting element. The displacement of the magnetic head is detected by non-contacting sensors attached to a member which moves together with the magnetic head and a member which does not move together with the magnetic head, respectively.

摘要: In an optical disk storing digital image information in the form of a succession of blocks, each comprising a plurality of frames comprising I-, P- and B-pictures, wherein an address format is preformatted in front of the block of image information of said plurality of frames, and the data arrangement within each image information blocks is such that I- and P-pictures are collectively disposed. The position of the I-pictures within each block is shifted from one block to another. The I-picture data may be divided into fraction according to the position on the screen, the DCT frequency, or layering, and the fractional I-picture data may be arranged in the image information blocks, and a header or parity signal is recorded in front of each fractional I-picture data. With such a configuration, it is possible to increase the speed of fast playback, and realize smooth playback picture.

摘要: In an optical disk having information recording tracks in the form of land and groove tracks, the disk is divided into a plurality of annular zones, each revolution of the information recording track belongs to one of the zones, and each revolution of the information recording track is divided into a plurality of sectors. A header portion is provided at the head of each sector and includes multiple recognition patterns which are each formed of a sequence of pits. A recognition pattern has a pattern which is not used as a pattern for data or addresses in the information recording part. The disk may be of a land/groove single-spiral configuration. The header portion for each sector may have a plurality of sub-headers, including an address of the sector, and first and second recognition patterns. The address of the sector and the first recognition pattern may be shifted in one radial direction by half a track pitch and the second recognition pattern shifted in the other radial direction by half a track pitch.
