    摘要： A fuel filter assembly of a type wherein a disposable cartridge element is suspended below a base is adapted so that cartridge replacement may be accomplished in a dry or spill-free fashion. A plug is dimensioned and positioned within the base and extends into the mounted cartridge to occupy a pre-established cartridge volume. When the cartridge is axially dismounted from the base, the cartridge essentially gains free volume. The free volume gain allows for the cartridge to capture any fuel which may drain from the base.

    摘要： A plug is adapted for sealing a disposable filter cartridge. The plug is inserted into the axial opening of the cartridge for temporary retention by the grommet. The plug is then reversed and inserted into the grommet of the spent filter cartridge for sealing the contents. The plug is constructed to resist removal from the spent cartridge. A second plug embodiment seals with a sleeve-like grommet at two axial spaced positions.

    摘要： A fuel injection nozzle 10 having a nozzle body 12 to which is attached a banjo-type inlet stud 16, by means of heat shrinking. After the shrink fit attachment, a blind passage 20, 22 in the delivery tube portion 134 of the inlet is drilled through to penetrate the nozzle body and form a lead-tight fuel delivery path. A locating plate 106 is supported by a bore 96 in the cylinder head 80 adjacent the nozzle and orients the nozzle into a preselected orientation. In one nozzle embodiment 70, the tip 76 is sealed against the cylinder head socket 84 by a frustoconical copper annular seal member 82 that is preferentially loaded toward the inner seal diameter. The nozzle cap 14 forms a spring chamber in which a spring subassembly 42 including upper and lower spring seats 48, 46, a spring 44, and stem 186 and pedestal 84 piloting the spring, cooperate to permit independent setting of the valve lift off stop limit F and the spring preload B. The components internal to the nozzle body are all insertable serially, without the need for rotation or other complex fabrication steps. A nozzle removal tool 250 adapted for use with the nozzle includes a yoke member 258 for engaging a shoulder 268 on the nozzle and a jackscrew 254 and jacking bolt 252 arrangement concentric with each other, for lifting the nozzle from its socket in the cylinder head.

    摘要： A two stage pressure relief valve for releasing a fluid under pressure includes a body having a bore extending from an inlet and terminating in an outlet. A first chamber which communicates with the inlet and a second chamber which communicates with the first chamber and the outlet are provided and are dimensioned such that the cross sectional area of the second chamber is greater than that of the first chamber. An operator seat is disposed within the body and an operator is moveably disposed within the bore and engages the operator seat. The operator includes a blocking surface which blocks at least a portion of the flow of fluid. When the pressure of the fluid exceeds a threshold pressure, the operator is unseated whereby fluid flows at a first flow volume such that at least a portion of the fluid impinges the blocking surface causing the blocking surface to move within the second chamber whereby fluid flows at a second flow volume. The second flow volume being greater than the first flow volume.

    摘要： A fuel filter assembly employs a disposable filter cartridge disposed in a housing comprising a container and a cap. The cap comprises a cap member composed of elastomeric material, an externally projecting fuel outlet, and a centrally disposed axially extending conduit. A lower portion of the axial conduit is slidably received by an axial opening in a plate mounted on the top of the filter cartridge. The opening and conduit are dimensioned such that a gap between the opening and the conduit allows fluid flow through the plate. A spring biases the upper part of the cap member away from the filter cartridge. A fuel inlet in the container provides a path for the flow of fuel into the filter assembly. Spherical balls captured in the fuel inlet and fuel outlet act as check valves, preventing the flow out through the fuel inlet and in through the fuel outlet. The filter assembly is primed by pushing the cap member downwards, compressing the spring. Trapped air is expelled through an orifice and the conduit and exits the fuel filter assembly via the fuel outlet. Removing the downwards force allows the spring to return to its normal length, forcing the upper portion of the cap member upwards and creating a low pressure. The low pressure seats the cap assembly ball and unseats the container assembly ball, providing a driving head which causes fuel to flow from the fuel tank to the fuel filter assembly.
