    摘要: The present invention concerns to a clamped cutting tool used in the metalworking field. The clamped cutting tool includes a tool-holder, a shim member placed on the tool-holder, a cutting insert placed on the shim member, and a locking pin held in engagement with the tool-holder for clamping the cutting insert. The tool-holder includes a forward end portion having an insert receving recess formed therein, the recess having a bottom wall and at least one side wall extending upwardly from the bottom wall, the bottom wall including a pin-receiving hole of a circular cross-section formed therein so as to extend downwardly. The shim member has a bore of a circular cross-section formed therethrough, the shim member being disposed on the bottom wall of the recess in such a manner that the bore communicates with and is concentric to the hole of the tool-holder. The cutting insert has an aperture of a circular cross-section formed therethrough, the insert being disposed on the shim member in such a manner that the aperture communicates with the bore of the shim member.

    摘要: An insert rotary cutter incldues a cutter body having an axis of rotation therethrough. The cutter body has a plurality of pockets formed in one end thereof in circumferentially distributed relation. A plurality of support members are attached respectively to the pockets. Each of the support members has a recess being open radially and axially outwardly of the cutter body. A plurality of polygonal cutter inserts are positioned respectively in the recesses. The recesses have a depth of one third to two thirds of a thickness of the cutter insert. A plurality of clamp wedges respectively clamp the cutter inserts to the cutter body through the support members.

    摘要: The invention is designed to improve a cutting performance and a spiral chip discharging ability. Main cutting edges 16 and auxiliary cutting edges 18 are formed along the respective sides of an upper surface 14 of a negative throw-away tip 12 and along side of bevelled corners, respectively. A rake face 22 of each main cutting edge 16 is gradually inclined toward a lower surface of the tip 12 by an angle of inclination .beta. along the extension of the main cutting edge 16 away from its adjacent auxiliary cutting edge 18 and by a rake angle .alpha. (>.beta.) along a direction perpendicular to the main cutting edge 16. The tip 12 is mounted on a cutter 9 as a rotatable cutting tool so as to discharge spiral chips during cutting. To this end, the tip 12 is mounted such that an axial rake angle, a corner angle, an angle of inclination, and a true rake angle are set in a range of -4.degree. to -10.degree., a range of 25.degree. to 60.degree., a range of 0.degree. or larger, and a range of -20.degree. to -5.degree., respectively.

    摘要: A cutting tool is disclosed which includes a tool body having a mounting portion to be secured to a machine tool and having a plurality of insert receiving recesses formed therein. A plurality of cutting inserts are releasably attached to the insert receiving recesses, respectively. The tool body has a nitrided hard layer formed on a surface thereof. Furthermore, a clamp member used in the tool preferably has an abutment surface to be held in abutting contact with the insert or other parts and a chip-contacting surface with which cutting chips produced during cutting operation are brought into contact. The chip-contacting surface is defined by a nitriding hard layer formed on a precision-cast unglazed surface, and has a surface which is left without finish-working. Furthermore, a method for producing a cutting tool which includes a tapped hole formed therein and having an inner surface defining an unnitrided portion is disclosed. In this method, a plug is first threaded into the tapped hole. Subsequently, the tool body is subjected to nitriding treatment to form a hard layer on the surface of the tool body, and the plug is subsequently removed from the tool body.

    摘要: A cutting insert has a polygonal plate-like insert body defined by a front face, a back face, and a plurality of side faces lying between the front and back faces. A nose portion is defined by one of the corners of the front face. At least one cutting edge extends immediately from the nose portion. The cutting edge is defined by one of a pair of intersections of the front face with an adjacent pair of side faces sandwiching the nose portion therebetween. The front face includes an inclined surface sloping toward the back face in a direction away from the nose portion, causing each of the pair of intersections to incline toward the back face in a direction away from the nose portion. A breaker is formed on the inclined surface along the intersection of the inclined surface with a side face. The breaker has an inner surface for defining a rake surface portion more positively inclined to the corresponding cutting edge than that defined by the other area of the front face. The front face may be of a tetragonal shape with a pair of inclined surfaces that impart a V-shaped contour when viewed along a diagonal line interconnecting the corners of the front face other than those defining a diagonally-opposite pair of nose portions. A breaker on such an inclined surface may have a trough line inclined to a corresponding cutting edge. The insert body includes side faces each sloping along the thickness of the insert body at different angles between various regions of the side face, these regions corresponding to various locations of the front face where there are or are not inclined surfaces and where there are or are not corresponding cutting edges.
