摘要: A blood coagulant assembly having a blood coagulant device adapted to be placed into a nostril of a patient suffering from a nose bleed. The blood coagulant device being initially placed within a blood coagulant device container which has a top section and a bottom section each secured to the other in a releasable manner. The blood coagulant device being mounted in a fixed position within the blood coagulant device container prior to removal of the blood coagulant device for insertion into a patient's nose that is bleeding. The blood coagulant device having a handle lower section and a handle upper section with a through opening passing through both the lower and upper handle sections. A blood coagulant material is secured onto an outer surface of the blood coagulant device to be placed against an inner surface of the nostril of a patient that is experiencing a bleeding nose for the purpose of stopping the nose from bleeding.

摘要: The present invention is a carotid sheath that has a proximal portion that is stiffer than the distal portion of the sheath as a result of the proximal portion having a higher durometer of the outer plastic coating of the sheath's proximal portion with a lower durometer for the plastic coating on the more flexible distal portion of the sheath. Another means to increase the flexibility of the sheath's distal portion compared to a stiffer proximal portion is by having a slightly smaller outside diameter for the outer plastic coating of the distal portion of the sheath. A more flexible distal portion of the sheath allows easier access for angiography, angioplasty or stenting when the sheath is used to access the tortuous path encountered when entering the carotid arteries.

摘要: A stent in the form of a thin-walled, multi-cellular tubular structure is provided. The tubular structure has a longitudinal axis and the stent includes a plurality of circumferential sets of strut members. Each set of the strut members is longitudinally displaced from each other and connected to each other by longitudinally extending links. Each set of the strut members forms a closed and cylindrical portion of the stent. Further, each set of the strut members includes a plurality of connected curve sections and diagonal sections. The sets of the strut members further include end sets of strut members located at each end of the stent and central sets of strut members located between the end sets of the strut members. The diagonal sections of the end sets of the strut members have a center portion and two ends.

摘要: Disclosed is a cytostatic drug attached to a sterile sheet that is designed to be placed between internal body tissues to prevent the formation of post-operative adhesions, which adhesions are really scar tissue formation. This sheet onto or into which the drug is placed may be either a permanent implant or it may be biodegradable. By impregnating an existing product such as the Johnson & Johnson SURGICEL™ absorbable hemostat gauze-like sheet with an anti-proliferative drug such as sirolimus, the biodegradable, drug impregnated mesh would act as a barrier to cell proliferation and hence be a deterrent to the formation of adhesions or scar tissue. Another embodiment of this invention is a cytostatic drug attached to a sheet that is placed at the site of an anastomosis to decrease scar tissue formation from within the vessel at the site of the anastomosis.

摘要: Disclosed is a “tracker system” that includes implanted electrical leads which are part of an implanted cardiotracker plus external equipment that includes external alarm means and a physician's programmer. The tracker system is designed to monitor the degradation of a patient's cardiovascular condition from one or more causes. These causes include the rejection of a transplanted heart and/or the progression of a stenosis in a coronary artery. As one or more stenoses in a coronary artery become progressively more narrow thereby causing reduced blood flow to the heart muscle coronary circulation, the tracker system can alert the patient by either or both internal and/or external alarm means to take the appropriate medical action. The physician's programmer can be used to display histograms of key heart signal parameters that are indicative of the patient's cardiovascular condition.
