An electronic device includes a display panel including at least one light source, a point detector disposed on one surface of the display panel or inside the display panel, and at least one processor operatively connected with the display panel and the point detector. The at least one processor is configured to cause the at least one light source to emit light in response to an object outside the display panel, detect, through the point detector, at least a portion of the emitted light reflected by at least a portion of the object, and obtain biometric information corresponding to the object based on the detection.

Disclosed is an electronic device that includes a housing, a display module that includes a first panel including a first surface, a second surface opposite to the first surface, and a plurality of pixels disposed between the first surface and the second surface, a cover layer that is disposed on the first surface of the first panel and that forms one surface of the housing, and a second panel disposed on the second surface of the first panel, and a sensor that is coupled to the display module and that forms a sensing area on the one surface of the housing. The display module includes an opening that is formed through the second panel and in which the sensor is disposed, and the sensor includes an active area and an inactive area formed around the active area. A first adhesive material is formed between the active area and the first panel. The first adhesive material includes a mechanical or thermal characteristic that a glass transition temperature Tg ranges from 0° C. to 25° C. in a frequency condition of 0.01 Hz to 0.1 Hz, a modulus of elasticity at 35° C. or more is 0.2 GPa or less, and a modulus of elasticity at −10° C. or less is 1 GPa or more.

Provided are an electronic device and operation method thereof. The electronic device may include: a display having a biometric sensing region; a biometric sensor disposed in the biometric sensing region; and a processor. The processor may be configured to: operate a first sub-region of the biometric sensing region according to a first display attribute and operate a second sub-region of the biometric sensing region according to a second display attribute; while the first sub-region is operated according to the first display attribute and the second sub-region is operated according to the second display attribute, obtain, through the biometric sensor, a signal corresponding to an external object, wherein the signal is generated at least partially based on light that is emitted from the first sub-region or the second sub-region and reflected by the external object; perform authentication on the external object if the signal satisfies a specified condition; and prevent authentication on the external object if the signal does not satisfy the specified condition.

An interface device and method between an electronic device and an external device using an ear jack of a smart device are disclosed in order to implement an interface that is capable of automatically recognizing an ear jack insertion type appcessory. The interface device includes: an electronic device including an ear jack including a plurality of audio signal input and output terminals; an external device including an interface unit including a connector unit configured to be inserted into the ear jack, the connector unit including a plurality of terminals that correspond to the plurality of audio signal input and output terminals provided in the ear jack of the electronic device, respectively; and a recognizing unit on the connector unit of the interface unit configured to recognize whether the external device is connected to the ear jack of the electronic device through a plurality of detections.

A method for handling an incoming call of an electronic device and an electronic device using the same is provided. The method includes displaying a user interface for handling the incoming call using a screen boundary of the electronic device, when receiving incoming call information while executing an application program on the electronic device, where the user interface for handling the incoming call using the screen boundary is displayed to overlap the user interface of the executed application program; sensing a touch event on the user interface for handling the incoming call using the screen boundary; and performing an incoming call handling function based on the sensed touch event.
