Abstract: A secondary battery suitable for a portable information terminal or a wearable device is provided. An electronic device having a novel structure which can have various forms and a secondary battery that fits the forms of the electronic device are provided. In the secondary battery, scaling is performed using a film provided with depressions or projections that ease stress on the film due to application of external force. A pattern of depressions or projections is formed on the film by pressing, e.g., embossing.

Abstract: It is difficult to know the remaining amount and the degradation state of a power storage device, and it is also difficult to estimate how long the power storage device can be used. Data obtained through midway discharge and mid-to-full charge is used as the learning data to calculate the degradation state and the capacity. In other words, the learning data includes both a discharge curve of midway discharge and a charge curve of mid-to-full charge, and neural network processing is performed with the use of the learned data.

The anomaly detection system is provided; the system compares a value obtained by estimating internal resistance or SOC of a secondary battery based on the measured value of a current or a voltage of the secondary battery with the use of a nonlinear Kalman filter and a value input to an anomaly detection system (network) of AI to predict a change in the internal resistance; the system regards a case where the difference is large as an anomaly; and the system detects an anomaly.

Abstract: In the case where a film, which has lower strength than a metal can, is used as an exterior body of a secondary battery, a current collector provided in a region surrounded by the exterior body, an active material layer provided on a surface of the current collector, or the like might be damaged when force is externally applied to the secondary battery. A secondary battery which is resistant to external force is obtained. An opening is provided in a central portion of the secondary battery; and a terminal is formed in the opening. An outer edge of the secondary battery is fixed by thermocompression bonding. In addition, the central portion of the secondary battery is fixed by thermocompression bonding, so that the amount of bending is limited even when the outer edge portion of the secondary battery is bent.

Abstract: A battery capable of changing its form safely is provided. A bendable battery having a larger thickness is provided. A battery with increased capacity is provided. For an exterior body of the battery, a film in the shape of a periodic wave in one direction is used. A space is provided in an area surrounded by the exterior body and between an end portion of the electrode stack that is not fixed and an interior wall of the exterior body. Furthermore, the phases of waves of a pair of portions of the exterior body between which the electrode stack is located are different from each other. In particular, the phases are different from each other by 180 degrees so that wave crest lines overlap with each other and wave trough lines overlap with each other.

Abstract: A secondary battery with an exterior body having a novel sealing structure, and a structure of a sealing portion that relaxes a stress of deformation are provided. The secondary battery includes a positive electrode, a negative electrode, an electrolyte solution, and an exterior body enclosing at least part of the positive electrode, at least part of the negative electrode, and the electrolyte solution. The exterior body includes a first region having a shape with a curve, a shape with a wavy line, a shape with an arc, or a shape with a plurality of inflection points, and a second region having the same shape as the first region. The first region is in contact with the second region. Alternatively, the first region has a shape without a straight line. The secondary battery may be flexible, and the exterior body in a region having flexibility may include the first region.

Abstract: A decomposition reaction of an electrolyte solution and the like caused as a side reaction of charge and discharge is minimized in repeated charge and discharge of a lithium ion battery or a lithium ion capacitor, and thus the lithium ion battery or the lithium ion capacitor can have long-term cycle performance. A negative electrode for a power storage device includes a negative electrode current collector and a negative electrode active material layer which includes a plurality of particles of a negative electrode active material. Each of the particles of the negative electrode active material has an inorganic compound film, containing a first inorganic compound on part of its surface. The negative electrode active material layer has a film in contact with an exposed part of the negative electrode active material and part of the inorganic compound film. The film contains an organic compound and a second inorganic compound.

Abstract: To improve the reliability of a power storage device. A granular active material including carbon is used, and a net-like structure is formed on part of a surface of the granular active material. In the net-like structure, a carbon atom included in the granular active material is bonded to a silicon atom or a metal atom through an oxygen atom. Formation of the net-like structure suppresses reductive decomposition of an electrolyte solution, leading to a reduction in irreversible capacity. A power storage device using the above active material has high cycle performance and high reliability.

Abstract: A battery module with high impact resistance is provided. A battery module using an elastic body such as rubber for its exterior body covering a battery is provided. A bendable battery module is provided. As the exterior body covering a battery, an elastic body such as rubber is used, and the exterior body is molded in two steps. First, a first portion provided with a depression in which a battery is stored is molded using a first mold. Next, a battery is inserted into the first portion. Subsequently, second molding is performed using a second mold so as to fill an opening of the depression in the first portion, so that a second portion is formed. The second portion serves as a cover for closing the opening of the depression in the first portion. The second portion is formed in contact with part of the electrodes in the battery and part of an end portion of the second exterior body in the battery.
