Abstract:
A wireless terminal having processing resources, a user interface including a user input device and a display, and a wireless interface causes a file to be printed to a destination printer that is unsupported by the wireless terminal. The processing resources communicatively couple to the wireless interface and to the user interface and are operable to receive a file via a servicing wireless network and the wireless interface, receive a request via the user interface to print the file, identify a destination printer, determine that the wireless terminal does not support printing of the file at the destination printer, identify a servicing device for processing of the file for printing at the destination printer, and transmit the file to the servicing device via the wireless interface and the servicing wireless network.
Abstract:
A wireless terminal displays its location and a map segment on a display of the wireless terminal. Operation commences with the wireless terminal accessing its GPS receiver to determine its location coordinates. Based upon its location coordinates, the wireless terminal accesses a map segment. The wireless terminal determines its orientation with respect to a reference direction. The wireless terminal displays the map segment on its display such that the map segment is displayed in a correct orientation with respect to mapped physical features. The wireless terminal displays an icon on its display that represents the wireless terminal. The icon is displayed on the map segment at a location corresponding to the location coordinates of the wireless terminal. The display of the wireless terminal orients the mapped physical features on the display so that they are oriented correctly with respect to the actual physical features.
Abstract:
A called party phone and method therefor performed within the called party phone includes receiving a call and corresponding caller ID information, connecting to the received call, playing a pre-recorded message to the calling party, terminating the call and, thereafter, forwarding at least one of caller ID information and time of call to a designated target element. The method further includes, in one embodiment, recording a message from the calling party and forwarding the recorded message as well as message information including at least one of the time of the call and the caller ID of the calling party. The caller ID comprises at least one of a calling party number and a calling party name. In the embodiments in which a recorded message is forwarded to the target element, at least one embodiment of the invention includes attaching the recorded message in the digital format to an email message.
Abstract:
A first installation package for a first group of files is created for a program. The first group of files include language-neutral files for the program but no language-specific files for the program. A second installation package for a second group of files is also created for the program. The second group of files includes language-specific files for the program.
Abstract:
A home entertainment system that employs DRM (Data Rights Management) data protected multimedia programs and rights management component (RMC), with corresponding hardware and software systems incorporated in to home entertainment systems, to protect rights of the media program providers and the users. The system employs STB (Set Top Box) as a hub. The rights management component is incorporated in to the set top box (STB Circuitry), as well as some of the media devices. Three operational scenarios are envisaged regarding the home entertainment system. The first operational scenario involves a remote media source and the media device interaction via STB Circuitry; where as the STB Circuitry performs the duty of a mediator. The second operational scenario involves remote media source and the media device interaction via STB Circuitry, where as the STB Circuitry having rights to reissue licenses to media players. The third operational scenario involves local media sources incorporating the RMC and interacting with the STB Circuitry to decrypt and transcode the multimedia programs. Further, the STB Circuitry interacts with a remote billing server via the communication network regarding presentation rights, to interact with a user regarding the presentation rights, and to arrange for payment for the presentation rights.
Abstract:
A system and method for communicating a message. Various aspects of the present invention may comprise determining whether a communication link between a sender's communication device and a recipient's communication device is presently available. If it is determined that a communication link between the sender's communication device and the recipient's communication device is not presently available, then the sender may be provided with an option to record a message on the sender's communication device for later automatic delivery to the recipient's communication device. A message from the sender may then be recorded on the sender's communication device for later automatic delivery to the recipient's communication device, and the recorded message may be automatically delivered to the recipient's communication device. Communicating the recorded message to the recipient's communication device may, for example, comprise persistently attempting to deliver the recorded message from the sender's communication device to the recipient's communication device.
Abstract:
A system and method that provides intra-day confirmation of non-anonymous trade transactions made at an exchange includes the entry into a computer system of first data relative to the trade transaction on behalf of one party to the trade transaction, wherein the first data include a code identifying an opposing party to the transaction. A message is sent to the designated opposing party prior to submitting the trade transaction for matching prior to end-of-day clearing. The trade transaction is matched to second data relative to the trade transaction entered into the system based on identity between certain elements of the first data and the second data, and a confirmation is sent to at least one of the parties to the trade transaction.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus supporting the handling of calls using simulcasting of multimedia information via a broadband access gateway are disclosed. A broadband access gateway supporting both a personal area network and a broadband network may receive multimedia information simultaneously exchanged by an associated access device via a wide area network. The broadband access gateway may store the received multimedia information locally, within the broadband access gateway, or may communicate the multimedia information to storage accessible from the broadband access gateway. The broadband access gateway may cause a user of the access device to be notified of the availability of multimedia information for a recorded call, and may communicate the multimedia information to the access device for playback. A user may be notified if storage and bandwidth for the recording of a call is not available.
Abstract:
A method and system for handling or processing out-of-order TCP segments in a wireless system may comprise at least one of: placing a first TCP segment received by a wireless network processor in a host buffer and having a mapping between a TCP sequence number and a corresponding buffer address. It may be determined whether a second TCP segment received by the wireless network processor is one of an in-order TCP segment or an out-of-order TCP segment. If the second received TCP segment is an out-of-order TCP segment, then control information associated with at least the second TCP segment may be stored locally on the wireless network processor. The out-of-order TCP segment may be placed in a portion of the host buffer.
Abstract:
A method for measuring properties of a fluid that includes oscillating a tuning fork resonator in a fluid. The invention is particularly suitable for in-line monitoring of various physical and electrical properties of fluids flowing in a conduit.
