    摘要: A printed circuit board electrical power contact for connecting a daughter printed circuit hoard to a mating contact on another electrical component. The power contact includes a main section; at least one daughter board electrical contact section extending from the main section; and at least one mating connector contact section extending from the main section. The mating connector contact section includes at least three forward projecting beams. A first one of the beams extends outward in a first direction as the first beam extends forward from the main section and has a contact surface facing the first direction. Two second ones of the beams are located on opposite sides of the first beam and extend outward in a second opposite direction as the second beams extend forward from the main section. The second beams have contact surfaces facing the second direction.

First ends of the ground contacts are in a center row. First ends of a first one of the each differential signal pair are on a first side row at a first side of the center row. First ends of a second one of the differential signal pairs are on a second side row at a second opposite side of the center row. At least one of the first ends of the ground contacts is provided between the first ends of two of the differential signal pairs. An assembly is provided including the electrical connector and a printed circuit board having the electrical connector mounted thereon. The printed circuit board includes through-holes with a shared single antipad one of the differential signal pair.

    摘要: Disclosed are electrical connectors and methods of assembling an electrical connector having “standard” (i.e., with electrical contacts having in-line tails), jogged (i.e., with electrical contacts having jogged tails but not connected orthogonally to another connector through a substrate), and/or “orthogonal” (i.e., with electrical contacts having jogged tails that are used in an orthogonal application) leadframe assemblies in the same connector. This provides the flexibility of using some of the available contacts in an orthogonal application and, at the same time, having remaining contacts available for routing on the midplane PCB. Though this could be done using only orthogonal leadframe assemblies, the combination of standard leadframe assemblies with orthogonal leadframe assemblies creates additional spacing between the PCB vias, so that signal traces can be more easily routed on the midplane PCB.

    摘要: Connector systems include electrical connectors orthogonally connected to each other through shared through-holes in a midplane. An orthogonal vertical connector includes jogged contacts to offset for or equalize the different length contacts in the right-angle connector to which the vertical connector is connected. A first contact in the right angle connector may mate with a first contact in the vertical connector. A second contact in the right angle connector may mate with a second contact in the vertical connector. The first contact in the right angle connector may be greater in length than the adjacent second contact of the right angle connector. Thus, the second contact of the vertical connector may be jogged by the distance to increase the length of the second contact by the distance.

    摘要: In an electrical system, such as an orthogonal, midplane architecture, backdrilling vias may enable selective connectivity to components of the midplane board without custom connectors and/or contacts. A first contact and a second contact may be received within a shared backdrilled via at opposite ends. The backdrilled via may establish electrical connectivity between the first contact and an internal conductive path of a midplane board. Because the backdrilling removes a portion of the via, the first contact and the second contact may be electrically isolated. The electrically conductive path between the first mounting contact and the internal conductive layer may be used for low-speed communications channel, power, ground, control signaling, or the like.
