    摘要: A filler-metal weld rod of a filler-metal composition is prepared by providing a mass of metallic powders, mixing the metallic powders with a temporary thermoplastic binder to form an injection-moldable mixture, and thereafter injection molding the injection-moldable mixture at an injection-molding temperature above the thermoplastic temperature of the thermoplastic binder to form an injection-molded rod. Any excess thermoplastic binder is removed from the injection-molded rod, and the injection-molded rod is thereafter sintered to form a filler-metal weld rod, with the temporary thermoplastic binder removed in the step of sintering.

    摘要: An article protected by a protective coating includes a substrate made of a first nickel-base superalloy substrate material that is susceptible to the formation of a secondary reaction zone when overlaid by a diffusion aluminide coating or an aluminide overlay coating. A protective coating including a deposited coating at the substrate surface. The deposited coating is a second nickel-base superalloy different from the first nickel-base superalloy and which does not produce a secondary reaction zone when interdiffused with the first nickel-base superalloy. In one version, the deposited coating has a nominal composition, in weight percent, of about 3.1 percent cobalt, about 7.6 percent chromium, about 7.8 percent aluminum, about 5.45 percent tantalum, about 3.85 percent tungsten, about 1.65 percent rhenium, about 0.02 percent carbon, about 0.016 percent hafnium, about 0.015 percent boron, about 0.5 percent silicon, balance nickel and incidental impurities. A ceramic thermal barrier coating may overlie the protective-coating outer surface.

    摘要: A method of producing an airfoil including the steps of providing a first preform having a metallic powder of a first alloy, the first preform defining an airfoil body having curved pressure and suction sides. A tip cap is disposed between the pressure and suction sides of the airfoil at a radially outer end of the airfoil body. A partial height squealer tip extends radially outwards from the tip cap to provide a second preform that is a metallic powder of a second alloy different from the first alloy. The tip cap is formed in the shape of an extension of the squealer tip. The first and second preforms are sintered to consolidate the metal powders. An airfoil according to the method is also disclosed.

    摘要: A method of producing a metallic composite component or a blade for a gas turbine engine includes: providing a core of a ceramic or metallic foam material; disposing the core in a mold having a cavity defining the exterior contour of the component or blade includes; injecting the mixture into the mold so as to penetrate the intracellular volume of the foam; removing a majority of the binder from the preform; and heating the preform to remove the remainder of the binder and sinter the metal powder together to form the finished component or blade. A preform for a metallic composite component includes a core of a foam material having ceramic or metallic cell walls with intracellular volume therebetween. The core defines at least a portion of the exterior contour of the component. A mixture of a metallic powder and a binder is disposed in the intracellular volume.
