    摘要: A current flowing from a circuit section into an integrated antenna flows through a coil. When a pseudo up-link signal is outputted from a VICS (light) signal processing circuit to check a connection state of an integrated antenna, since a large current flows through a transmitting element for optical beacons of the integrated antenna, a drop voltage of the coil becomes large. When the drop voltage of the coil is within a prescribed range because of divided voltages of resistors, the antenna detection circuit determines that the integrated antenna is normal. In this case, since a large current flows into the coil, a coil having small impedance is used.

    摘要: Embodiments of the present invention provide a method of manufacturing a magnetic head slider, the method being adapted so that throat height of a main magnetic pole piece of a perpendicular recording magnetic head can be controlled with high accuracy. According to one embodiment, a first Electrical Lapping Guide element (ELG) is disposed on the same layer as a plated underlayer of a shield of one write head in a row bar, and other ELGs are disposed on the same layer as that of a main magnetic pole piece of another write head. Front end positions (Tops) are detected from changes in resistance values of the other ELGs and an ending position of lapping is calculated. Since the front end positions (Tops) of the other ELGs are accurate, it is possible to assign a correlation to throat height “Th” of the main magnetic pole piece and the resistance value of the first ELG by detecting this resistance value existing when the front end positions (Tops) are detected.

    摘要: A circuit for controlling the actuation of a vehicle air bag system includes a two terminal electrically actuated ignition element connectable to a drive voltage line through a first transistor and to a circuit ground through another transistor. The voltage source includes the vehicle battery and a capacitor that is charged by the vehicle battery and which supplies operating power in the event the vehicle battery is removed from the circuit, for example, as a consequence of a collision. The transistors are normally biased to a non-conducting state sufficient to isolate the ignition element from the drive voltage source and circuit ground. Vehicle acceleration is sensed by an acceleration sensor which, in the event of a collision, biases both transistors into conduction to effectively connect the two terminals of the ignition element to the drive voltage line and to ground to actuate the vehicle air bag. During normal operation, a bias circuit controls one of the transistors to provide a minute current flow that is used to sense fault conditions and illuminate an alarm lamp. During a collision, the acceleration sensing circuit re-configures the bias circuit to drive both transistors into conduction. A low-voltage circuit senses the drive voltage and controls the bias to the one transistor to inhibit the minute current flow to conserve power during low-voltage conditions.

    摘要: A vehicle operator protection system capable of detecting abnormalities in an auxiliary power supply in the protection system. The auxiliary power supply comprises a backup capacitor which is part of a time constant circuit and is connected in parallel with an actuator for inflating an air bag. While the backup capacitor is charged, the voltage differences between an onboard battery and the backup capacitor are determined for a given period, and the determined value is divided by the amount that the voltage of the backup capacitor rises in the given period. An abnormality in the capacitance of the backup capacitor is determined in accordance with the divided value, and thus the abnormality of the capacitance of the backup capacitor can be detected accurately without being influenced by variation of voltage of the onboard battery.

The character information on the storage plane of the memory is divided into a plurality of segments using 4.times.4 bit meshes as a unit and the number of the character digital bit meshes included in each of the segments is counted. A collection of segment information obtained from these count values is used as an input information and is compared by pattern matching with each of a collection of standard character information preliminarily prepared for a set of characters in the same information form as the input information, thereby effecting the desired type font character recognition.
