    摘要: A starter which assuredly and simply sealed an outer circumference of one engagement portion between a housing and a yoke or the other engagement portion between the yoke and an end frame with a band-shaped seal member. The banded-shaped seal member covers each engagement portion of the yoke, a center plate, the housing, a brush holder, and the end frame. The seal member has a clearance which is placed to correspond to a notched ventilation hole so that the yoke can be opened in the direction of the starter bottom or the ground.

The overrunning clutch has a clutch outer integrally formed with an internal gear of a planetary gear speed reduction mechanism driven by a starter motor, a clutch inner integrally formed with a center bracket which supports a drive shaft rotatably therethrough and rollers interposed between cylindrical portions of the clutch outer and the clutch inner. On the inner circumference of the clutch outer, roller storage portion is formed to extend radially circumferentially so that the roller is fully stored therein at the time of overrunning.

    摘要: A magnet switch which can prevent formation of dew between a movable contact and a fixed contact under the low temperature condition. A cover is made of an insulating material having a base, and the fixed contact is supported in the cover. The fixed contact is connected with the tip portion of an external power feed wire covered with a coating sheath or outer layer of insulation. The tip is embedded in the cover together with the coating sheath or outer layer of insulation, thus eliminating an external power feed terminal with a large surface area that is exposed to the atmosphere. The fixed contact is not cooled even under low temperature condition, and dew condensation between the fixed contact and movable contact can be securely prevented.

    摘要: In a one way clutch of a starter having an outer member, inner member and rollers, a planet carrier is formed integrally with the outer member and through holes are formed avoiding cam chambers for rollers so as not to interfere with cam chambers formed in the inner circumferential surface of outer member. At one end portion of outer member, limiting portion for limiting the axial shifting of rollers is integrally formed, and at the other end surface, a limiting plate for limiting the axial shifting of rollers is provided and press-fitted into pins. The limiting portion may be replaced by another limiting plate. Through holes for the through holes are formed at locations where the outer member is radially thick, e.g., between circumferentially adjacent two of the cam chambers.

    摘要: An armature of a rotary electric machine composed of an armature core, an armature winding and a shaft is manufactured in the following manner. A conductor bar including plural conductors connected in line is formed, and each conductor is cut out from the conductor bar. The conductor in a straight shape is inserted into each slot of the armature core, and then both side portions of the conductor are bent at substantially right angle so that the side portions are positioned along axial end surfaces of the armature core. The side portions are further skewed and electrically connected to form the armature winding. An outer surface of the side portions circularly arranged on the axial end surface of the armature core is used as a commutator surface.

    摘要: A rotor of a rotary electric machine such as a starter motor for cranking an internal combustion engine is substantially composed of an armature core fixed to a rotating shaft and an armature coil disposed in slots of the armature core. The armature coil is constituted by electrically connecting conductor segments. A rear end portion of each conductor segment disposed in the radial outside of the slot is bent and arranged on an axial rear surface of the armature core, thereby forming a commutator surface. The thickness of the rear end portion in the axial direction gradually increases from its radial outside toward its radial inside, and the cross-sectional area of the rear end portion is made uniform throughout its entire length.

The upper coil bars have upper coil-end sections which extend radially from the outer periphery of the armature core and together from a commutator surface with which a brush member is in contact.     摘要: A starter for an internal combustion engine is provided which includes a pair of angular contact ball bearings used to support an armature shaft. The bearings are disposed close to opposed ends of a core of an armature. The core has disposed thereon coils which define a commutator on one of the ends of the core. One of the bearings is disposed within an inner periphery of the commutator. This structure results in a decreased interval between the bearings, thus ensuring stability in supporting the armature shaft during rotation, which results in decreased mechanical vibrations, magnetic noises, and wear of the bearings.
