    摘要: An instrument guide and implant holding device is provided which releasably secures an implant to the instrument guide. The device provides a convenient guide for surgeons to perform various operative techniques on the subject bone without the need for separate devices, and allows all these operative techniques to be performed without removing the instrument guide from the dissected area until all operative techniques have been completed. The releasable mechanism allows the surgeon to easily hold the instrument to an implant using a simple press-fit approach, and easily releases from the implant with a minimal amount of force. An embodiment also allows the surgeon to releasably lock the cannula in a given orientation about the centroidal axis of the implant fastener hole.

    摘要: A vertebral body replacement or spacer that re-creates a lordosis angle (or other angle) of a human spine. An embodiment of the spacer may comprise contoured superior and inferior bearing surfaces. More particularly, the contoured surfaces may be defined by compound curves such as two radii substantially orthogonal to each other. As a result, the bearing surfaces may conform to the convex end plates of adjacent vertebra. In another embodiment, the present invention may provide a method of establishing a lordosis angle. The method may comprise inserting a spacer into an intervertebral space and positioning the spacer in such a manner that the contoured surfaces generally correspond to the end plates of the adjacent vertebra. However, the spacers and methods of the embodiments of the present invention may be used to re-create other angles in the human spine.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for securing boney structures is disclosed which includes a compression mechanism and a force transfer mechanism. The compression mechanism may have bone engagement members that have one portion slideably coupled to a housing positioned within the implant and another portion rotatably coupled to the implant so that a movement of the housing causes the slideable portion to move within the housing and a penetrating member to rotate about the rotatably coupled portion. The force transfer mechanism may be coupled to the compression mechanism to move the housing.

    摘要: Provided is a system for dynamically stabilizing a spine. In one example, the system includes a first bone anchor coupled to a first polyaxial head and a second bone anchor coupled to a second polyaxial head. An axis passing through a center of each polyaxial head is aligned with a center of rotation. A first member has a first end movably coupled to the first polyaxial head and a second end. A second member has a third end coupled to the second polyaxial head and a fourth end moveably coupled to the second end. The first and second members are configured to maintain the alignment of the axes with the center of rotation during three dimensional movement of the first member relative to the second member.
