    摘要: The invention relates to an electronically controlled ignition system in which a correction signal is obtained from a control signal derived directly from an ignition pulse sensor. The invention consists of producing a saw-tooth signal with a rising flank and a falling flank within one cycle of the square wave control signal, using only one flank of the said control signal. The ratio or relationship between the gradients of the two flanks is a measure of the change in the corrected signal relative to the control signal. The electronically controlled ignition system is particularly suitable for compensating for the ignition advance, caused by an induction sensor, as compared to the mechanical position of the rotor at low engine speeds.

    摘要: The Schmitt trigger threshold switch which produces rectangular waves in response to the output of a rotary ignition timing generator has a variable bias applied to its switch-in threshold which is proportional to the amplitude of the generator output, while the switch-out threshold remains fixed at or near zero voltage. The bias, which may be developed by a peak detector, prevents inherent ignition timing shift as the generator turns faster. The Schmitt trigger utilizes an inverting comparator so that a "lowest-wins" circuit can be used for applying stabilizing negative feedback or bias to the comparator. The bias provides immunity to disturbing voltages which increase with signal amplitude.

    摘要: An internal combustion engine for a vehicle has a first device for generating an ignition signal causing the engine spark plug to fire at a predetermined timing schedule and at retarded timings relative to the predetermined schedule. A second device is provided for detecting all three of (1) a high engine speed condition, (2) a high load operating condition and (3) a condition in which a transmission gear arrangement is in a low speed gear position. The second device produces a signal when all three conditions are satisfied. A third device causes the first device to generate the ignition signal at the retarded timings in response to the signal from the second device, thereby effectively decreasing combustion noise due to a greater combustion pressure rise at low vehicle speeds during high engine speed and load operations.

    摘要: Our overrun prevention ignition system of the capacitor discharge type includes an ignition angle retarding circuit for retarding the ignition angle by an overlapping period between an ignition signal and a predetermined conduction period of a switching transistor associated with an ignition controlling thyristor. The ignition angle retarding circuit includes an ignition signal generating coil sharing a common core with a magneto and includes a capacitor which is charged by a portion of an ignition signal from the ignition signal generating coil. The capacitor discharges for a certain period upon commencement of the decay of the ignition signal to produce a supplemental ignition signal thereby to effectively lengthen the width of the ignition signal. A switching transistor connected to the gate of the ignition controlling thyristor is maintained conductive for a predetermined period of time irrespective of the engine speed to bypass the ignition signal during this period. When the engine rotational speed exceeds a normal speed region and the interval between successive ignition signals is shortened, the ignition signal overlaps with the predetermined conduction period of the switching transistor and the ignition angle is retarded by the overlapping period. Since the width of the ignition signal is effectively lengthened by the supplemental ignition signal, a large retardation angle can be obtained to ensure prevention of the overrun of the engine.

    摘要: A contactless ignition system for internal combustion engines controls the closing angle of an engine in response to a signal derived by comparing the AC output of an alternator operated in synchronism with the rotation of the engine with the output of a bias-up circuit adapted to supply a DC bias signal which varies with the speed of the engine. The outputs of the alternator and the bias-up circuit are applied to a voltage comparison circuit and the voltage comparison circuit applies to the bias-up circuit a signal having a frequency which is proportional to the number of revolutions of engine. In response to the signal the bias-up circuit generates a signal proportional to the engine speed and this signal is converted through a non-linear circuit of the bias-up circuit into a DC bias signal whose rate of change is small at low engine speeds but increases with an increase in speed at higher engine speeds.

    摘要: An apparatus for electrically controlling the spark advance of selected cylinders of a multicylinder engine so that the spark of the selected cylinders is advanced beyond others of the cylinders. For example, the selected cylinders may be advanced beyond normal operational advance to increase combustion chamber temperatures and pressures for a relatively short period so as to clean the surfaces of the combustion chamber. The cylinders which are advanced are changed in sequence or at random so that all of the cylinders are cleaned. The system may also be used to control the spark advance of the cylinders to provide differing advances for the respective cylinders to accommodate differences in operational conditions at the cylinders.
