    Abstract: A covering ring for a vehicle wheel. The bead seating surfaces of a tire are mounted on the radially inner periphery of the rim. In order to prevent dirt and/or water from entering the space between the tire bead and the rim well, the covering ring has a width which covers the space between the tire bead, that portion of the rim which extends axially outwardly from the rim well, and the rim well. Also, provision is made that the radially inner surface of the covering ring, when viewed in the transverse direction, extends horizontally or is laterally inclined toward the outside. Also, provision is made that the radially inner diameter of the covering ring at no point of the space, which is to be covered, be greater than the radially inner diameter of the mounted tire in the bead region.

    Abstract: An improved tire and wheel for road vehicles, the tire being either of tubeless or inflatable tube arrangement and of the radial and belted type and includes flexurally deformable tire side walls. The improvement comprises side wall restraining annular members for localizing a side wall flexural deformation to an annular portion of the sidewall to provide a material decrease of the tire flattening amplitude under load. The tire tread may include apex-shaped extensions on either side thereof which are integral with the belt and tread containing perimetrical portions of the tire carcass to laterally widen the road/tire contact interface area and structure for improving the load carrying and handling characteristic of the tire.

    Abstract: A combination of a pneumatic tire and a vehicle wheel. The wheel has a rigid rim provided with essentially radially inwardly extending rim flanges. The radially outer side of the rim has emergency operation support surfaces, and the radially inner side of the rim is provided with respective recessed mounting portions for the beads of the tire, which is made of rubber or rubber-like synthetic material and has a carcass that is anchored in the beads by being looped about pull and compression-resistant bead cores thereof. The beads are disposed on rim seating surfaces provided on the radially inner side of the rim next to the rim flanges. The height of the rim flanges and the configuration of the tire beads are coordinated with one another in such a way that when the tire is uninflated and not subjected to load, there is provided between a rim flange and an adjacent inner wall of the tire, at the level of the radially innermost point of the rim flange, a gap of 0.5 to 3 mm.

    Abstract: A vehicle wheel on which can be mounted a pneumatic tire, with the wheel being suitable for use during emergency operation of the tire. The tire is essentially made of rubber or rubber-like synthetic material, and has a carcass which is anchored in beads of the tire by being looped around bead cores. The inside of the tire is provided with an air-impermeable layer. The tire can also be reinforced with a belt. The wheel is provided with a rigid rim, including a rim ring, and with an emergency-operation element upon which the inner surface of the tire is supported during emergency operation of the latter. The emergency-operation element can be formed by the rim ring itself, or by a separate support element secured to the rim. In order to guarantee that emergency operation can be undertaken over a longer period of time without damaging the inner surface of the tire, at least one friction strip is disposed on the radially outer side of the emergency-operation element. This friction strip extends further radially outwardly than do any parts of the rim and emergency-operation element, so that during emergency operation of the tire, the latter is supported by the friction strip. Each friction strip is rotatably supported on the emergency-operation element.

    Abstract: A vehicle wheel, especially for a truck. The wheel has a rigid rim on which can be mounted a pneumatic tire of rubber or rubber-like material. The carcass of the tire is anchored in the tire beads by being looped around pull-resistant bead cores. The tire beads are disposed on the radially inner periphery of the rim ring. In order to make it particularly easy to mount the tire, the rim seating surfaces for each tire bead extend essentially horizontally in the transverse direction, and extend to the edge of the rim ring. A clamping ring is disposed radially inwardly of the tire bead, with that side of the clamping ring which rests against the bead extending at an angle to the axis of rotation of the wheel. The bead core has a cross-sectional shape which includes sides which extend essentially parallel to the clamping ring and parallel to the rim seating surface.
