摘要: A fluid treatment apparatus is constructed from at least one electrochemical cell including a bipolar ion exchange membrane and having a single output orifice to deliver treated fluid. The apparatus may employ a power supply transformer featuring a magnetic dispersion bridge to regulate the magnetic flux to secondary coils, thereby limiting the current delivered to the load and protecting the apparatus from over-current damage. The cell includes a membrane assembly which incorporates both the inner and outer electrodes to provide repeatable assembly and service, as well as reliable performance. The apparatus will provide continuous fluid treatment when designed with at least two stages, each stage including at least one cell, in which one stage is treating influent solution and another stage is regenerating. A method to operate these apparatus includes the steps of deionizing influent solution without interruption, halting deionization water flow and removing power from the deionization cells, flushing the liquid between membrane layers to the drain outlet, initiating regeneration power, and initiating regeneration flow.

摘要: A device and process for the separate removal of oppositely charged ions from electrolyte solutions and recombining them to form new chemical compositions. The invention provides the ability to create multiple ion flow channels and then form new chemical compositions therefrom. The process is accomplished by selectively combining oppositely charged ions of choice from different electrolyte solutions via the capacitive behavior of high electrical capacitance electrodes confined in insulated containers. Industrial plants employing the inventive process can have the flexibility to produce needed industrial chemical compounds such as Soda Ash, Caustic Soda, hydrochloric acid and chlorine gas, based on market demand, and can be located near points of consumption to significantly reduce transportation costs.

摘要: The invention relates to the complex processing of a nuclear power plant's NPP's liquid, boron-containing waste with a complex composition, being generated during the operation of NPPs, including of ones VVER-type, and can be used to isolate boric and nitric acids and hydroxides of sodium and potassium for their reuse in the NPP process cycle. The invention allows to obtain crystalline boric acid and highly concentrated solutions of nitric acid and hydroxides of sodium and potassium, suitable for reuse in the NPP process cycle and for general industrial use. Conducting electrodialysis at low values of current and voltage provides a reduction of the method's energy intensity. The involvement of all major components of waste mother liquors into the processing reduces the amount of stored and disposed hazardous waste.

摘要: The disclosure relates to recovering Li ions in a raw liquid into a recovery liquid at a high recovery speed. A lithium selective permeable membrane is constituted of a selective permeable membrane main body constituted of a lithium ion superconductor (ion conductor) having a particularly high ion conductivity and a Li adsorption layer formed as a thin layer on a raw liquid side (a first electrode) thereof. As a material constituting the selective permeable membrane main body, specifically, lanthanum lithium titanium oxide can be used. The Li adsorption layer is formed as a thin layer on a surface of the selective permeable membrane main body by carrying out a chemical treatment on the selective permeable membrane main body.

摘要: Nanostructured polyelectrolyte bilayers deposited by Layer-by-Layer deposition on nanoporous membranes can be selectively crosslinked to modify the polyelectrolyte charge density and control ionic selectivity independent of ionic conductivity. For example, the polyelectrolyte bilayer can comprise a cationic polymer layer, such as poly(ethyleneimine), and an anionic polymer layer, such as poly(acrylic acid). Increasing the number of bilayers increases the cation selectivity when the poly(ethyleneimine) layer is crosslinked with glutaraldehyde. Crosslinking the membranes also increases the chemical and mechanical strength of the polyelectrolyte films. This controllable and inexpensive method can be used to create ion-selective and mechanically robust membranes on porous supports for a wide range of applications.
