A controller selectively applies current to the coils to cause flux created by the at least one permanent magnet to traverse through selective poles of the first stator and the second stator to selectively alter air gap sizes associated with the four armatures.

    摘要: Apparatus and associated methods relate to an electromagnetic steered orientation device. In an illustrative example, an exemplary electromagnetic payload orientation device (EPOD) includes a rotor, a stator, and a payload mounted on the rotor. The rotor, for example, may be coupled to a magnetic source. For example, the stator may include electromagnetic coils operable by a controller circuit to induce relative rotation between the rotor and the stator. In some examples, the rotor is a sphere provided with one or more guide tracks on an outer surface, and the stator is a concentric shell surrounding the sphere provided with at least one follower corresponding to the guide tracks such that a relative rotation between the rotor and stator is constrained by the guide track to follow a predetermined motion profile. Various embodiments may advantageously provide a substantially smooth and low voltage mechanism to orient the payload.

    摘要: A motor includes a stator with a first stator, a second stator, and a third stator, each including at least one stator coil, and a rotor including a magnetic element, a first bearing, a second bearing, and a shaft, the stators generating a superimposed magnetic field together causing the magnetic element to rotate. When the magnetic element rotates in the first plane, the outer ring of the first bearing rotates. The center of the first bearing is located in a plane where the second bearing is located, and when the magnetic element rotates in the second plane, the inner ring of the second bearing rotates. A central axis of the shaft passes through the center of the first bearing; wherein the shaft is rotatably fixed to the first bearing and connected to the second bearing.

    摘要: An electrical system includes a power inverter module (PIM) connected to DC and AC voltage buses and having a pair of inverter phase legs, at least one of which includes a plurality of semiconductor switch. A cycloidal electric machine with plurality of electrical phases is connected to the PIM via the AC voltage bus, and has a stator and a rotor with eccentric stator and rotor axes. The rotor moves with two degrees of freedom, including rotating motion about the rotor axis and orbiting motion about the stator axis. A controller applies, for each respective phase, a phase-specific offset value to a carrier signal and to a voltage reference signal. This generates a modified carrier signal and a modified reference signal, respectively, which in turn generate a pulse width modulation (PWM) signal. The electric machine is powered via the PIM by energizing the semiconductor switches using the PWM signal.

    摘要: A wobble plate drive system may include a stator having a central axis and a plurality of stator teeth disposed on an inner cylindrical surface. The system may further include a wobble plate having a wobble axis disposed at a non-zero angle relative to the central axis, an outer cylindrical surface, and an upper annular surface. A plurality of wobble teeth may be disposed on the outer cylindrical surface and a plurality of face teeth may be disposed on the upper annular surface. The system may further include an output gear having an output axis substantially aligned with the central axis and a lower annular surface. A plurality of output teeth may be disposed on the lower annular surface. The wobble plate may be configured to rotate, the plurality of wobble teeth may be configured to engage with the plurality of stator teeth, and the plurality of face teeth may be configured to engage with the plurality of output teeth as the wobble plate nutates around the stator.
