摘要: A method for integration of the institutional supply chain for medical products utilizing a nested bill of materials on a care event level of a clinical pathway for one or more medical procedures. The medical supplies appropriate for use in a care event are expressed as a bill of materials. Each item of medical supply is assigned a unique identifier which includes at least identification of the item itself, identification of the supplier of the item, and identification of the care event with which the item is to be used. Portions of the supplies are provided by multiple vendors to a unitized container sequencing center where the supplies are bundled by care events and packed into a unitized container. This container is then shipped to a customer or distributor for further shipment to a customer.

摘要: A method and apparatus are described for making various packages that are easily assembled into arrays for use in small runs of articles that are to be stuffed in the packages. One type of package is particularly suitable for attachment to a header card another package is designed to facilitate the insertion of debit cards. An array of receptacles are formed and placed on a sheet and a pattern of adhesive formed on another sheet. The receptacles are registered with the pattern in such manner that top edges of the receptacles are in contact with and can pull of the adhesive so that the receptacles are conveniently placed on a header card. Several embodiments are shown and described.

摘要: A bandoleer package and method for the making thereof in which bandoleer packages can be used to hold objects that are dimensioned or relatively thick without the usual risk of damage to the object caused by burst rollers. The preferred embodiment is made by forming a tube from a first web around a card cut from a secondary web and an object to be packaged, heat sealing the tube to itself to form a bottom seam of the package and a top seam of a previous package, then bonding the edges of the tube to the card. By bonding the edges to the card, the dimensioned object is kept away from the edges, thus preventing crushing of the object by burst rollers. The second web is preferably coated with a material that facilitates bonding to the first web material. In the preferred embodiment, the first web and the coating are formed from resinous materials, such as polyethylene; but any suitable materials can be used. In another embodiment, the bandoleer package includes an adhesive stripe covered by an unperforated release liner. The packages can be automatically affixed to a substrate upon removal of the release liner and bursting of the bandoleer.

摘要: A system (A) for making shrink packaging (P) that is adapted to receive an article (O) to be packaged is disclosed including a conveyer (250) for moving a rigid substrate pallet member (250) beneath a flexible wrapping feed (252) that extends a flexible wrapping material (172) over a top surface (254) of the rigid substrate. An extension assembly (256) extends a desired length of the flexible wrapping material (172) from a flexible wrapping material supply (258) over the top surface (254) of the rigid substrate forming a pocket (178) between the top surface (254) of the rigid substrate and a bottom surface (180) of the flexible wrapping material (172). A trimmer (260) cuts the desired length of the extended flexible wrapping material (172) from the flexible wrapping material supply (258). The two opposing ends (174 and 176) of the length of the flexible wrapping material (172) is attached to the opposing ends (168 and 170) of the rigid substrate. A tuck (262) is inserted in the flexible wrapping material (172) between the opposing ends (174 and 176).

摘要: The present invention provides a sturdy display package which, in an embodiment, is made of first and second peripherally sealed transparent PVC sheets approximately 7.5 mils thick each. The package is particularly useful for displaying and protecting small items such as pain reliever packets or condoms. The invention includes a method and apparatus for making such a package. The first sheet is positioned over a nesting plate having a plurality of nesting modules, each corresponding to one package and being independently height-adjustable by a shim at a selected location to correct sealing flaws. The second sheet is then positioned over the first sheet so that the items are between the sheets. An RF-sealing die is provided having package-shaped sealing dies, each defining a pocket. The sealing die and nesting plate are pressed together so that each pocket receives a bulge formed by from one of the items. Each pocket has a foam insert which resiliently deforms and presses the second plastic sheet peripherally around the item. The RF sealing die nests against the nesting plate forming a plurality of seal areas, each enclosing one of the items and defining one package. The individual packages may then be cut from a resulting composite sheet.

摘要: A packaging arrangement for packaging products, such as contact lenses, in packages such as blister packs. The packaging arrangement includes a rotary index table defining on its upper surface a plurality of identical, radially-oriented support pallets, equally spaced apart around the rotary index table. Each support pallet is designed to support an array of individual package bases thereon, and is sequentially rotated to stop at angularly spaced radial positions in the rotary packaging machine. At a first radial position, the rotary packaging station receives blister package bases, each having a product deposited therein, and places the package bases in the support pallet then at the first radial position. At subsequent radial positions, the rotary packaging machine verifies the presence and alignment of each package base, deposits a fixed dosage of saline solution into each package base, optionally verifies that a fixed dosage of saline solution has been deposited in each package base, places a marked laminated cover over the package bases, heat seals the laminated cover to the package bases, verifies the proper positional placement of the laminated cover on the package bases, and finally unloads the completed blister packs from the rotary packaging station, for subsequent processing such as sterilization and secondary packaging.
