Abstract: The present application relates to devices and components including apparatus, systems, and methods to provide SCell activation. In one example, an SCell activation procedure may be extended by a duration based on cancelation of CSI-RS reception. In another example, a base station may use particular configuration parameters to avoid cancelation of CSI-RS reception. In yet another example, a UE and a base station may use particular information for a CSI-RS reception/transmission on an SCell that is being activated.

Abstract: Technology for a user equipment (UE) operable to encode a New Radio (NR) short duration physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) for transmission to a Next Generation NodeB (gNB) is disclosed. The UE can identify uplink control information (UCI) for the UE. The UE can multiplex, using frequency division multiplexing (FDM) at the UE, the UCI and a pseudo-random sequence associated with a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) onto a plurality of subcarriers in one or more physical resource blocks (PRBs) of one or more orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols. The UE can encode the UCI and the pseudo-random sequence associated with the DMRS multiplexed onto the plurality of subcarriers of the one or more OFDM symbols for transmission on the NR short duration PUCCH to the gNB.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may perform sounding reference signal (SRS) switching by transmitting one or more SRS using a plurality of SRS resources of an SRS resource set configured for SRS switching according to a first combination of downlink (DL) and uplink (UL) antenna ports. For UE power saving, the UE may turn off one or more of the DL and UL antenna ports. The UE may then reconfigure the plurality of SRS resources of the SRS resource set for SRS switching according to a second combination of the DL and UL antenna ports. In response to a power saving message from a UE, a base station may generate SRS configuration information to configure an SRS resource set for SRS antenna switching based on a combination of active DL and UL antenna ports at the UE, and send the SRS configuration information to the UE.

Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods for control signaling of beam failure detection are disclosed. A beam pair link may be comprised of multiple bandwidth parts (BWPs) or component carriers (CCs). In one embodiment, a beam failure detection reference signal (BFD RS) may be configured, with subsequent BFD RS instances defining a BFD RS periodicity. A BFD periodicity for monitoring the BFD RS may be configured to be less than, or equal or greater than the BFD RS periodicity. A beam failure may be declared if a minimum number of BFD RS instances, either within the BFD periodicity, or nearest the BFD periodicity if no instances fall within the BFD periodicity, fall below a predetermined threshold. The BFD periodicity and BFD RS may be configured for all BWPs/CCs, a subset of BWPs/CCs, or each individual BWP/CC.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) can include processing circuitry configured to decode synchronization information within a synchronization signal (SS) block, the SS block received within a SS burst set and occupying a subset of a plurality of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) symbols within a slot. At least one of the symbols in the subset coincides with a pre-defined symbol location associated with a demodulation reference signal (DM-RS) of a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH). A synchronization procedure can be performed with a next generation Node-B (gNB) based on the synchronization information within the SS block. The DM-RS can be detected within the slot, where the DM-RS starts at a symbol location that is shifted from the pre-defined symbol location and following the subset of symbols. Downlink data received via the PDSCH is decoded based on the detected DM-RS.

Abstract: Embodiments of a User Equipment (UE) to operate in accordance with a physical random access channel (PRACH) are disclosed herein. The UE may comprise hardware processing circuitry to determine a coverage enhancement category for the UE based on downlink channel statistics related to reception of downlink signals at the UE from an Evolved Node-B (eNB) and an uplink-downlink imbalance parameter related to uplink reception at the eNB. The hardware processing circuitry may be further to select, for use in a coverage enhancement mode, a PRACH preamble from a set of candidate PRACH preambles based on the determined coverage enhancement category for the UE. In some embodiments, at least some of the candidate PRACH preambles may span a different number of sub-frames.
