Abstract:
An aqueous coating composition comprising from 45 to 98 parts by weight (solids) of aqueous resin(s) and from 2 to 55 parts by weight (solids) of finely divided water-insoluble resin(s), in which at least a part of said aqueous resin is selected from special type of cationic resins. The resins may have mutually reactive functional groups.
Abstract:
A one-pack type of curable composition comprising a blend consisting essentially of a silyl group containing resin having a backbone substantially comprising a vinyl type polymer chain and containing at least one silicon atom attached to a hydrolyzable group at a terminal or in a side chain of its molecule, a curing catalyst, and a solvent. This composition has excellent storage stability, excellent workability, excellent weather resistance, and excellent weather resistance after coating and curing, and high hardness of the coated surface after curing.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to thermosetting binder compositions for coating, comprising:(I)(1) a non-acidic resinous compound, saturated, molecular weight at least 900, alcoholic hydroxyl content at least 0.2 eq/100 g;(2) a cross-linking agent comprising a nonacidic polyester of a polycarboxylic acid, having more than one beta-hydroxyl ester group per molecule, at least one of components (1) and (2) having an alcoholic hydroxyl functionality of more than 2, and(II) a curing catalyst comprising a transesterification-promoting metal compound which is insoluble in liquid hydrocarbons. These compositions can be used in solvent-based lacquers and paints, in coating powders, aqueous powder suspensions, in aqueous coating compositions for cathodic electrodeposition; for aqueous compositions component (1) (1) is preferably an epoxy resin/amine adduct.
Abstract:
A composition comprising (a) an organic compound having at least one hydrolyzable silyl group and (b) an organic amine and/or an alkali metal hydroxide. The composition is curable upon exposure to moisture, and has superior properties, such as hardness, toughness and stain resistance, when used for example as a coating. The composition can be utilized as a coating material.
Abstract:
Resinous compositions which are the Michael adducts of primary and/or secondary amines and polymers containing alpha, beta-ethylenically unsaturated moieties in conjugation with carbonyl moieties are disclosed. The compositions are depositable on substrates to form films. The films are amenable to oxidative and aminoplast cures and cure with light color. The compositions are desirable for use in cationic electrodeposition.
Abstract:
A normally liquid substantially fully methylolated, substantially fully mixed alkylated glycoluril derivative consisting essentially of dimethoxymethyl diethoxymethyl glycoluril is a highly effective cross-linking agent for both water-based and organic solvent-based resin coating compositions.
Abstract:
Electrodepositable compositions containing small amounts of cellulose acetate butyrate provide coatings having excellent adhesion to the substrate and to conventional topcoat compositions, wherein said cellulose acetate butyrate has a relatively high butyryl content. The electrodepositable compositions are comprised of water dispersible acid or base solubilized synthetic vehicle resins.
