Abstract:
A conveyor having a plurality of plate-like article carriers for supporting a series of articles or article containers. A scanning means detects specific containers and diverts them to one side of the conveyor where they may be picked up by a second conveyor and removed to a storage position. A lateral extension of each platelike carrier permits the movement of the articles across the conveyor and onto a second conveyor.
Abstract:
A lift loader includes a substantially rectangular platform or carrier having each of its four corners connected, by a ball joint, to a respective endless chain, with the chains being trained around sprockets rotatably mounted on a supporting frame including an upper section adjustable vertically relatively to a lower section. The chains are in two sets, each including a pair of laterally spaced endless chains, and each set of chains is trained around a respective set of pairs of laterally spaced sprockets. A motor drives all four endless chains in synchronism with each other along an endless path including a carrier lifting and lowering run, a carrier return run and a pair of vertically spaced horizontal runs. A goods loading station is provided at one end of one horizontal run and a goods discharge station is provided at the opposite end of the other horizontal run. Each carrier is longitudinally flexible and includes a pair of laterally spaced link chains comprising support links articulatedly interconnected by intermediate links, transversely extending juxtaposed support plates each secured on a respective pair of support links, and keeper links insertable between adjacent support links to prevent relative pivoting of the support plates, the keeper links being spring biased to retracted positions. Adjacent the goods loading and discharge stations, the then flexible carrier is convexly curved about support rollers, ''''opening'''' the support links, and guide rails engage the keeper links as the carrier reaches the goods loading station to insert the keeper links between the then ''''open'''' support links to prevent the support links from ''''closing'''' whereby to maintain the carrier with a horizontally planar orientation during its travel along the lifting and lowering run. As the carrier passes the goods discharge station, the support links again ''''open'''' providing for retraction of the spring biased keeper links so that the carrier is again flexible during its passage along the return run. Chain take-up means are provided to compensate the endless chains for any adjustment in the relative height of the supporting frame.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for sorting randomly oriented diodes into two groups such that all diodes in the same group conduct in the same direction; that is, are oriented alike. The randomly oriented diodes are suspended in a magnetic holding bin from which they are extracted by a sorting wheel and transported past a cam-jet-magnet sorting member. The sorting member ejects those diodes oriented in a first direction from the wheel into a first magnetic receiving bin. It assures retention, by the sorting wheel, of those diodes oriented in a second direction so that they are carried further for removal into a second magnetic receiving bin.
Abstract:
A device for moving a wheeled vehicle along a predetermined path having a track alongside the path with pusher means operating slidably along the track and arranged to push against the wheel of a vehicle in the path to move the vehicle along the path and mechanism to move the pusher means slidably along the track.
Abstract:
A log handling installation has a device for dosing transversely extending logs which are moved one by one. The device includes pairs of lifters for raising the logs. One of the lifters of each pair is of larger size than the other lifter of the same pair and has a threshold against which the logs are fed. The lower surface of the other lifter is also shaped to form a threshold. When the other lifter is turned to its lifting position its threshold is closer to the arriving logs than the threshold of the first lifter.
Abstract:
An apparatus for longitudinally spacing articles on a conveyor as they are carried along a first conveyor. An adjacent longitudinally aligned conveyor surface receives each article. One of the adjacent ends of the conveyor surfaces is moved elevationally relative to the other. A transverse stop is spaced above the conveyor surfaces adjacent to the rear end of the receiving conveyor surface. Movement of the surface alternately positions the stop for clearance of articles moving beneath it for blocking movement of an oncoming article. A forward stop is provided for collecting articles on the receiving conveyor surface when desired.
Abstract:
An endless chain belt conveyor assembly for transporting articles along an arcuate path. The assembly includes a trackway defined by concentrically-arranged curved inner and outer rails. Operating within the rails is an endless belt supported between a driven roll and an idler roll, the belt being constituted by a continuous train of inter-linked cross rods, the rods diverging one degree from each other so that the spacing between adjoining rods increases progressively from the inner rail ends of the rods to the outer rail ends thereof. Pivotally connected to the cross rods are several curved rows of slat-like links, the rows being concentrically arranged between the inner and outer rails to create a supporting surface extending across the rods. The first row of links, which lies adjacent the inner rail, is formed by links each bridging a respective pair of rods and having a tapered width to match the spacing between the rods joined thereby. The succeeding rows of links which extend toward the outer rail, are formed by links that are staggered with respect to those in the preceding row and are pivotally joined to alternate pairs of rods, the links in the succeeding rows having a tapered width to match the spacing between the rods joined thereby.
Abstract:
An endless conveyor arrangement for carrying moulds in a plant for producing shaped parts from multi-component plastics mould filling material, is disclosed. The arrangement comprises a chain having a plurality of first link members each arranged to carry a mould and a plurality of second link members intermediate the first link members and pivotally attached thereto. Each of the first link members comprises a pair of mutually spaced parallel plate members, between which the respective end portions of adjacent second link members project. The chain passes over two mutually spaced horizontal co-planar guide wheels, and the periphery of each guide wheel is formed by a plurality of forked members which are adapted to span the second link members of the chain. Linear support rails are disposed adjacent runs of the chain intermediate the guide wheels, and these support rails engage rollers or wheels mounted on the chain.
Abstract:

Abstract:
Glass sheets are conveyed in sequence along a main line conveyor which includes means for diverting sheets from the main line conveyor on to branch line conveyors. Selectively operable suction transfer means is provided over the junction of each branch line with the main conveyor, and is operable to lift and convey a sheet over the junction so that it continues along the main conveyor.
