Abstract:
In the manufacture of a polyurethane by the reaction of a polyol with a polyisocyanate in the presence of a catalyst and in the absence of water, the catalyst used is an organic vanadium compound, preferably a vanadium or vanadyl alcoholate or phenolate, having the formula: (Y)mV(YR)a 2m WHEREIN: V is a vanadium atom Y is an oxygen or sulfur atom R is an organic radical, which can be alike or different if the molecule contains more than one A IS 4 OR 5 M IS 0 OR 1 WHEN A IS 4, AND 1 WHEN A IS 5.
Abstract:
A vibration-sensitive electric switch, for use in percussion or vibration fuses, particularly for hand and rifle grenades, as well as mines, having a pair of contacts, one of which is supported for movement into contact with the other contact in response to application of forces thereto and at least one of said contacts being deformable at least in the area of contact with said other contact so as to increase the contact time therebetween.
Abstract:
COMPOUNDS OF THE FORMULA MG(OR)2-(ROH)N ARE PREPARED BY FIRST PRETREATING THE ALCOHOL, ROH, WITH THE ORTHOFORMIC ACID ESTER OF THAT ALCOHOL, AND THEN REACTING METALLIC MAGNESIUM WITH THE PRETREATED ALCOHOL, P-TOLUENESULFONIC ACID MAY ADDITIONALLY BE USED TO PRETREAT THE ALCOHOL.
Abstract:
In the coating of metal with polyvinyl fluoride by applying a primer coat to the metal surface and applying a finish coat of polyvinyl fluoride over the primer coat, the improvement which comprises providing the primer coat by applying a mixture of basically reacting metal oxide and polyvinyl fluoride dissolved or suspended in an organic solvent, drying the primer coat, and applying on the primer coat, a coat of polyvinyl fluoride.
Abstract:
BIS-(HYDROXYMETHYLALKYL)DIOXANYLS ARE PRODUCED BY REACTION OF GLYOXALACETALS AND A TRIMETHANOL COMPOUND. THE DIOXANYLS CAN BE USED IN THE PRODUCTION OF POLYESTERS.
Abstract:
IMPROVEMENTS IN FORMING PLASTICIZED VINYL CHLORIDE POLYMER FOAMS BY ADMIXING VINYL CHLORIDE POLYMER PLASTISOLS WITH A SUBSTANTIALLY MOISTURE-FREE WETTING OR DISPERSING AGENT AT LEAST PARTIALLY DISSOLVED IN A FATTY ALCOHOL AND THEN FOAMING SUCH ADMIXTURE WITH A SUBSTANTIALLY INERT GAS.
Abstract:
HOMO AND COPOLYMERIZATION OF VINYL CHLORIDE WITH OR WITHOUT COMONOMERS AT ABOUT -8 TO -50*C. IN THE PRESENCE OF ASCORBIC ACID, HEAVY METAL SALTS AND A COMBINATION OF HYDROGEN PEROXIDE AND CYCLOHEXANESULFONYLACETYL PEROXIDE AS A REDOX SYSTEM POLYMERIZATION CATALYST.
Abstract:
A propagation primer containing a primer charge having a composition comprising, by weight, approximately: 40-60 PERCENT OF BARIUM NITRATE 10-20 PERCENT OF AN ALUMINUM-MAGNESIUM ALLOY 5-20 PERCENT OF LEAD DIOXIDE 6-10 PERCENT OF ZIRCONIUM HYDRIDE, AND 1-5 PERCENT OF BORON The composition is substantially insensitive to friction and shock. For propagation over larger distances, additional specific primer compositions may be employed.
Abstract:
Substantially pore-free abrasive grit comprising zirconium oxide mixed with alumina or bauxite made by mixing the components together in molten form in the substantial absence of nitrogen.
Abstract:
AN ELECTROPLATED PRODUCT CONPRISING A GRAFT COPOLYMER OF VINYL CHLORIDE ON A CONJUGATED DIENE BACKBONE. THE COPOLYMER IS FIRST SENSITIZED WITH STANNOUS CHLORIDE, THEN CHEMICALLY PLATED WITH METAL AND THEN ELECTROPLATED.
