Abstract: The present disclosure relates to systems, devices, and methods for analyzing health of vehicle batteries. Vehicle batteries tend to degrade over time. The described systems, devices, and methods quantify this degradation (or quantify remaining health of the battery) by comparing average energy used to charge or discharge the battery by a charge level unit to a nominal quantity of energy used to charge or discharge a battery in optimal health by a charge level unit. Charge data for previous charge events of the vehicle battery can be used in the calculation, and can be filtered by identifying qualified charge events based on at least one of a number of metrics. Usage data for previous usage events of the vehicle battery can be used in the calculation, and can be filtered by identifying qualified usage events or subgroups of usage event based on at least one of a number of metrics.

Abstract: Vehicles can employ onboard telematic monitoring devices to collect vehicle and operation data, such as for improved vehicle fleet management. Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for data capture instructions for asset tracking are provided. An example method for capturing data involves obtaining raw data from a data source onboard an asset and monitoring the raw data for satisfaction of a simplified data capture trigger. When the simplified data capture trigger is satisfied, a dataset simplification algorithm is performed on the raw data to generate a simplified set of raw data, and the simplified set of raw data is logged. The method further involves monitoring the raw data for satisfaction of a rich data capture trigger. When the rich data capture trigger is satisfied, an unsimplified block of raw data is identified and logged for rich data analysis. The data is transmitted to a server. The unsimplified block of raw data contains raw data that is additional to the raw data contained in the simplified set of raw data.

Abstract: Systems and methods for restricting the use of vehicle operator's electronic device are provided. In a method by a telematics server, the server determines that a vehicle's engine is running and that the operator registered with the vehicle is in the driver's seat. In response, the server sends a message to the vehicle operator's electronic device for disabling at least one feature thereof. In a method by a vehicle operator's electronic device, the electronic device determines that the vehicle is running and that the operator is in the driver's seat. In response, the electronic device disables at least one feature thereof. The systems and methods can be used to discourage or restrict the use of electronic devices by drivers sitting in a vehicle with the engine running in accordance with laws in certain jurisdictions.

Abstract: A method, device, and system for managing a fleet of vehicles is disclosed. The method includes providing a telematics device for an electric vehicle of the fleet of vehicles, the telematics device being capable of obtaining data from the electric vehicle; using the telematics device to identify the electric vehicle based on the data obtained from the electric vehicle; providing a data definition set for the electric vehicle to the telematics device; and using the telematics device and the data definition set to determine whether the electric vehicle is in a vehicle mode based on the data obtained from the electric vehicle and the data definition set. The vehicle mode of the electric vehicle can be at least one of a charging mode, a driving mode, and a parked mode.
