    摘要: An organic EL device includes a luminescence layer containing, as a luminescent material allowing a high-luminescence and high-efficiency luminescence for a long period of time, a metal coordination compound represented by the following formula (1): LmML′n, wherein M denotes Ir, Pt, Rh or Pd; L denotes a bidentate ligand; L′ denotes a bidentate ligand different from L; m is an integer of 1, 2 or 3; and n is an integer of 0, 1 or 2 with the proviso that the sum of m and n is 2 or 3. The partial structure MLm is represented by a formula (2) or a formula (3) shown below, and the partial structure ML′n is represented by a formula (4) or a formula (5) shown below: wherein CyN1, CyN2 and CyN3 independently denote a substituted or unsubstituted cyclic group containing a nitrogen atom connected to M; CyN4 denotes a cyclic group containing 8-quinoline or its derivative having a nitrogen atom connected to M; CyC1, CyC2 and CyC3 independently denote a substituted or unsubstituted cyclic group containing a carbon atom connected to M, with the proviso that the metal coordination compound is represented by the formula (2) when n is 0.

    摘要: In a conductive liquid crystal device, particularly an organic EL device, including a carrier transporting layer of a conductive liquid crystal and a functional organic layer disposed between a pair of electrodes, a protective layer having a carrier transporting characteristic is inserted between the carrier transporting layer and the organic layer. As a result, deterioration, such as the occurrence of molecular association (such as exciplex), at the boundary between the carrier transporting layer and the organic layer can be effectively prevented, whereby a sufficient luminescence can be attained at a lower voltage to improve the durability of the organic EL device.

    摘要: A reflection-type liquid crystal apparatus has a liquid crystal panel which includes a pair of a back side substrate and a viewer's side substrate disposed opposite to each other, and a liquid crystal disposed between the substrates. The back side substrate is provided with a plurality of scanning electrodes for applying a scanning signal to the liquid crystal, and the viewer's side substrate is provided with a plurality of transparent data electrodes for applying data signals to the liquid crystal. Further, the scanning electrodes are provided with a reflective and diffusive surface of a metal so as to reflect light incident thereto through the viewer's side substrate. The reflective and diffusive metal scanning electrodes formed on the back substrate are not only effective for providing improved drive characteristics because of its high conductivity but also provides uniform diffusive reflected light for providing a paper-like improved display quality.

M control lines are commonly connected in units of N elements of the M.times.N switching elements. The M control lines are connected to the M output lines of said shift register. N input and/or output lines are commonly connected in units of M elements of the M.times.N switching elements. The N input and/or output lines are connected to the N select lines of the selector. Transistors constituting the shift register are thin-film transistors. And, transistors constituting the selector are transistors each having an active region consisting of a single-crystal semiconductor.
