Abstract:
A system and method for making a digital encoder. The digital encoder has a digital-to-analog converter having multiple inputs and an output. The encoder also has an integrator having an input and an output, wherein the output of the digital-to-analog converter is connected to the input of the integrator. A quantizer has an input and an output, wherein the output of the integrator is connected to the input of the quantizer, and the output of the quantizer is connected to one of the plurality of inputs of the digital-to-analog converter. Methods to make the foregoing structure are also described.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a digital communication architecture based upon the concept of time encoding. In one aspect, systems provide time-encoding-based digital communication, the systems comprising a transmitter, a communication channel, and a receiver. In another aspect, methods for digital communication comprise time encoding digital input data and then transmitting the resultant asynchronous pulse signal to a receiver that converts the asynchronous pulse signal back into digital symbols. Methods of providing a digital communication link can include (i) providing digital symbols, (ii) time encoding the digital symbols to generate asynchronous pulse signals, (iii) communicating switching times of the signals to a receiver, and (iv) digitizing in parallel and reconstructing the digital symbols. The methods and systems of the invention can utilize existing chip-scale circuit technologies and can be characterized by link capacities of 50 Gbit/sec, 100 Gbit/sec, 200 Gbit/sec, or higher.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an integrated structure of a composite material multispar torsion box (1) for aircraft, comprising a lower skin (12), an upper skin (11), several spars (9) defining cells (14), the first cell (19) being the closest to the input of load in the box (1), said structure comprising unit elements in the first cell, which unit elements provide the torsion box (1) with the necessary torsional rigidity to prevent the deformations occurring as a result of local loads.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus permit handling of unwanted calls from callers such as telemarketers, when caller identification is provided. In one embodiment, the called party adds the caller identification information for the telemarketer to a personal list after receiving the unwanted call. Subsequent calls from the telemarketer are intercepted. In a second embodiment, the called party identifies the telemarketer by detecting the caller identification information before answering the call. By providing a screen listing indication, the caller identification information is added to the called party's personal list before the call is completed, permitting the call to be intercepted and while future calls from the telemarketer to be intercepted.
Abstract:
A method and system for end-to-end delivery of directory search and advertising services is implemented on a converged communications content distribution architecture. Merchants may directly engage the content distribution platform to schedule, target, and provide multimedia content for their directory listings. Service providers enable access to end-users via converged communications terminals, such as multimedia-enabled VoIP phones, and provide all transaction and usage reporting.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for manufacturing an improved composite article which reduces the time and expense of manufacturing a composite article and which provides an improved back surface to the composite article. The apparatus includes an improved vacuum seal that provides for improved surface characteristics and improved manufacturability.
Abstract:
A reinforcement structure for an opening in the primary structure of an aircraft, the structure comprising a skin, frame members which are transverse with respect to the flying direction of the aircraft, and stringers which are longitudinal with respect to the flying direction of the aircraft. The reinforcing structure includes a perimetral reinforcing element situated along the edge of the opening and reproducing the geometrical form thereof; at least one pair of transverse reinforcing elements arranged on both transverse sides of the opening; and at least one pair of longitudinal reinforcing elements arranged on both longitudinal sides of the opening.
Abstract:
A contact lens case has an integrated adhesive pad that can remove lint and debris from a user's fingers prior to picking up a contact lens. The contact lens case can include containers for each of a user's left and right contact lens. The adhesive pad can be any pad onto which a user can place their fingers to remove lint and debris therefrom, without leaving behind a residue. The containers and the adhesive pad can be disposed within a single case with a cover to protect both elements.

Abstract:
A PWM signal on which a dither signal is superimposed is used for adjusting a central position when controlling a solenoid valve. To improve this type of control process in which the amplitude of the dither signal depends on the current of the solenoid valve and thus on the PWM signal, the PWM signal and the dither signal are generated in a computer unit independently of the power regulation process. Forming the signals separately has the advantage of generating a constant amplitude for the dither signal each time a triggering signal is generated for the solenoid valve such that the armature of the solenoid valve can oscillate specifically about the central position and thereof at constant small vibrations. This allows frictional forces to be reliably reduced and the solenoid valve to be switched more rapidly while the load on the main computer is reduced.
