Abstract:
A multimedia optical disc for recording main video data which is composed of sets of frame data that is processed beforehand to allow compatibility with displays of a plurality of aspect ratios. The disc has a stream area storing streams made up of the main video data and a plurality of sets of sub-picture data, with each set of sub-picture data including a set of tel-op data and a set of coordinate information showing a display position of the set of tel-op data. The disc also includes a control area storing a plurality of pairings of a set of display mode information and a set of sub-picture indicating information. Each set of display mode information shows a species of display method according to which the frame data is to be processed for a case when the frame data decoded from the main video data is displayed at one of the plurality of aspect ratios. Each set of sub-picture indicating information shows a set of sub-picture data, out of the plurality of sets of sub-picture data in a same stream as the main video data, which includes a set of coordinate information which coincides with the species of display method shown by the display mode information.
Abstract:
A multimedia optical disc on which a variety of types of video titles are recorded and which enables a reproduction apparatus to instantly distinguish whether emulated AV functions may be performed for any of the titles. The multimedia optical disc includes a manager area which stores playback type information corresponding to the management information for each video title, with the playback type information including a first flag showing whether the present video title is expressed using one or a plurality of sets of route information and a second flag showing whether a title is expressed using any branch information.

Abstract:
A terminal that executes a multi-participant online game is advantageous for a user when forming a group in the application. The terminal is any given one of a plurality of terminals in a network system that also includes a server apparatus, the terminals respectively corresponding to characters that exist in a virtual space. The given terminal includes: a display unit that, in accordance with data stored in the sever apparatus and data stored in the given terminal, performs display of a scene in the virtual space in which exits a first character whose actions are determined by the given terminal and a second character whose actions are determined by another terminal; and an updating unit that, when a user performs an operation to form a group of characters, updates the displayed scene such that performance information pertaining to the other terminal is displayed in correspondence with the second character.

Abstract:
An optical disk includes: a data region; and a management region. The data region stores: at least one video object containing video information and audio information; and at least one audio object containing audio information. The management region stores first path information and second path information, the first path information indicating a first reproduction path including only the at least one video object, and the second path information indicating a second reproduction path including a combination of the at least one video object and the at least one audio object.
Abstract:
A multimedia optical disc includes a lot of blocks each of which stores moving picture data, audio data, sub-picture data, and control information. Each piece of moving picture data, audio data, sub-picture data, and control information in the same block has the same reproduction time limit. Each piece of control information includes a mask flag indicating whether to mask a key interrupt requesting a special reproduction such as fast forward, the key interrupt being generated by the user by pressing a key on a remote controller and the like. The mask flag is effective for the key interrupt generated during the reproduction time limit stored in the control information.

Abstract:
A multimedia optical disk is provided. The multimedia optical disk includes a data area for storing objects which include moving picture data and at least one of audio data and sub-picture data. The multimedia optical disk also includes an index area for storing reproduction orders of the objects. Route information in the index area includes a sequence of addresses of objects whose alignment represents a reproduction order. Chain control information in the index area corresponds to the route information. The chain control information, being effective in reproducing objects specified by the alignment of the sequence of addresses (objects specified by the alignment of the sequence of addresses are called a chain), instructs the reproduction apparatus to have a navigation control of the chain. A piece of moving picture data having a certain time period is reproduced at the same timing as a piece of audio data and a piece of sub-picture data. A piece of sub-control information, being effective in reproducing moving picture data, sub-picture data, and audio data stored in a small unit instructs the reproduction apparatus to have a navigation control of the data stored in the same small unit.
