Abstract:
A Stiffener manufacturing method and apparatus appropriate for manufacturing a stiffener such as a flat bar is disclosed. The stiffener manufacturing method is composed of a steel plate arrangement step, a strip-cutting step and a pattern cutting step, which are performed in a predetermined interval of time at a position. The stiffener manufacturing apparatus is composed of a matrix working table on which the steel plate is put, a guide rail which is installed in either side of the matrix working table, a stripping carriage which passes over the upper portion of the steel plate installed on the matrix working table, and in which a plurality of stripping torches for cutting the steel plate into a plurality of strips are installed in a predetermined distance spaced from each other, the stripping carriage being capable of linearly travelling along the guide rails, and a patterning carriage which passes over the upper portions of the strips installed on the matrix working table, and in which a patterning torch for cutting the strips into a predetermined pattern is installed, the patterning carriage being movably installed along the guide rail in a predetermined distance spaced from the stripping carriage. Using the stiffener manufacturing method and the apparatus thereof, an exact dimensioned stiffener can be efficiently mass-produced.

A lubricant composition for an internal combustion engine contains a lubricant basestock and an effective amount for antiwear properties of an oligomer containing at least one mesogenic segment and at least one flexible segment. The oligomer can have a centrally disposed flexible segment, e.g., derived from a polyalkylene glycol such as polypropylene glycol, with mesogenic segments as end caps or it can contain alternating flexible and mesogenic segments, e.g., comprising a repeat unit comprising aromatic ester groups and at least one linear polyalkylene spacer. The oligomer preferably has a molecular weight of from about 1,000 to about 4,000 and is present at from about 0.1% to about 3%, by weight of the basestock.

Blends of a poly(ethylene terephthalate) matrix and a thermotropic liquid crystalline segmented block copolymer comprising rod (e.g., aromatic ester mesogen units containing flexible alkylene spacers) and flexible coil polymer blocks of poly(butylene terephthalate) can be used as molding compositions or in the formation of fibers and films.

A single reactor process for formation of block copolymers comprising aromatic ester mesogenic units containing flexible alkane spacers and polyester flexible coil units in the main chain thereof which comprises reacting an .alpha.,.omega.-bis(hydroxybenzoyloxy) alkane monomer with an aromatic acid chloride in the presence of a functionalized flexible coil oligomer under temperature conditions in which an acid chloride-terminated bis(hydroxyalkyl terephthalate) oligomer was first formed at a first, lower temperature and the block copolymer was then formed at a second, higher temperature by reacting this oligomer with the functionalized flexible coil oligomer.

Disclosed herein is a probe including: an acoustic module including a piezoelectric layer configured to generate ultrasonic waves, a matching layer configured to reduce a difference in acoustic impedance between the piezoelectric layer and an object, and a backing layer configured to absorb ultrasonic waves generated by the piezoelectric layer and transmitted backward from the piezoelectric layer; a plurality of attenuation layers provided at both edges of the upper surface of the acoustic module, and configured to attenuate ultrasonic waves generated by the acoustic module; and a lens layer disposed to cover the upper surfaces of the attenuation layers, and configured to focus ultrasonic waves transmitted forward from the piezoelectric layer at a predetermined point.

Disclosed is a composition for treating or preventing amyloid-related diseases including 4-O-methylhonokiol as an active ingredient. More specifically, a pharmaceutical composition including 4-O-methylhonokiol, which is effective for treating or preventing amyloid-related diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, cognitive disorder, defective memory, amyloidosis, etc. is disclosed. The inventors of the present disclosure have found out for the first time that 4-O-methylhonokiol inhibits the production of β-amyloid. It has been confirmed to be useful in treating or preventing amyloid-related diseases. Through animal tests including water maze test and passive avoidance test on mice, 4-O-methylhonokiol has been confirmed to be effective for amyloid-related diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, defective memory, cognitive disorder, and the like. It was further confirmed through acetylcholinesterase activity inhibition test using mouse brain cortex and hippocampus tissue that they are particularly effective in treating or preventing Alzheimer's disease among the amyloid-related diseases.

Provided is a steel sheet for a formed member having enhanced ductility, a formed member, and a method for manufacturing the formed member, and more particularly, to a steel sheet for making a formed member having high strength and ductility such as an automotive structural member and a reinforcing member, a formed member, and a method for manufacturing the formed member. The steel sheet for a formed member has enhanced ductility, and includes, by weight %, C: 0.1% to 1.0%, Si+Al: 0.4% to 3.0%, Mn: 0.1% to 5.0%, P: 0.0001% to 0.1%, S: 0.0001% to 0.03%, N: 0.03% or less (but not 0%), and the balance of Fe and inevitable impurities. The formed member having high strength and ductility that can be used for forming an automotive structural member, a reinforcing member, etc. In addition, the formed member can be used for a heat-treatable impact resistant member.

A method for manufacturing a fine spheroidized steel sheet having an excellent heat treatment characteristic, the method including: i) manufacturing a high carbon slab that is formed of 0.3 to 1.0 wt % C, 0.1 to 1.2 wt % Mn, 0 to 0.4 wt % Si, 0.01 to 0.1 wt % Al, 0 to 0.01 wt % S, and balance Fe and an inevitably added impurity as residuals; ii) reheating the slab to a temperature of Ar3 transformation point or more; iii) roughing rolling the slab, and manufacturing a thin plate by performing finish rolling in an austenite region; iv) cooling the thin plate at a cooling speed of 50 to 300° C./sec; v) finishing the cooling of the thin plate at a temperature region of 400 to 650° C. and maintaining the temperature; vi) winding the thin plate at a temperature region of 450 to 700° C.; vii) performing cold rolling at a reduction ratio of 30% or more; and viii) spheroidizing annealing the cold rolled thin plate.
