摘要: A fabric material having a textured surface and a process for producing the fabric material are disclosed. The fabric material is made from a woven fabric substrate including a warp yarn and at least first and second pick yarns. The first pick yarn is woven into the fabric substrate to provide integrity. The second pick yarn, on the other hand, is a yarn that is nappable from the surface of the fabric substrate. In accordance with the present invention, the fabric substrate is fed through a napping process which naps the second pick yarn appearing on the face of the fabric. The fabric substrate is then fed through a shearing process which shears the napped yarns. The napped and sheared yarns form pile-like tufts on the surface of the fabric. Ultimately, the napped and sheared yarns produce a velvet-like fabric having an improved aesthetic appearance.

摘要: A composite structure manufactured on a knit stitch machine and including a pair of preformed substrates joined together by a knitted yarn system while being separated by portions of the yarn system. Preferably the yarn is bulked after knitting and defines a plurality of supports between the substrates. The composite is produced by feeding the substrates through a knit stitch machine, on opposite sides of a spacer bar and developing the knit stitches of the yarn system through and about the substrates while located on opposite sides of the spacer bar. After the composite is produced it preferably is subjected to heat to cause yarn of the yarn system to bulk and form supports between the substrates. The composites may be enclosed in sealed polymeric envelopes to form a cushioning pad, or may be used for filtration, insulation or other uses. The process of producing the composite and the spacer bar are also disclosed and claimed.

摘要: A fabric which is formed by a weaving system designed to automatically maintain a printed pattern in alignment with a woven pattern as the fabric is being formed. The printed pattern is printed onto the warp yarns. A controller is used to monitor the position of the printed pattern during the weaving process relative to the position of a woven pattern that is being formed into the fabric. Should the printed pattern and woven pattern fall out of alignment, the controller then alters the longitudinal size of the woven pattern, the printed pattern, or both patterns, in order to realign the patterns.
