    Abstract: A method is disclosed for improved tracking area planning and handling, comprising: assigning a single tracking area code to a plurality of eNodeBs at a messaging concentrator gateway, the messaging concentrator gateway situated in a network between the plurality of eNodeBs and the core network; storing, at the messaging concentrator gateway, at least one indicator of a last known location of a user equipment (UE) other than the single tracking area code; receiving a paging message from the core network at the messaging concentrator gateway for a UE; and performing a paging sequence using the at least one indicator to identify a set of eNodeBs to page the UE, thereby allowing larger tracking area list sizes to be used without increasing signaling traffic between the radio access network and the core network.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for Radio Access Network dynamic functional splits are de-scribed. In one embodiment, a method may be disclosed for Radio Access Network dynamic functional splits, comprising: determining, by a user for a RAN, a first split of different functionalities between a central Unit (CU) and a Distributed Unit (DU), the functionalities including a Radio Resource Controller (RRC), a Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP), a Radio Link Control (RLC); a Medium Access control (MAC), a Physical Layer (PHY), and a Radio Frequency Unit (RF); and wherein the system is able to provide different splits of the functionalities based on factors such as user count, fronthaul capacity, fronthaul usage, required baseband processing capacity, and latency.

    Abstract: Systems, methods and computer software are disclosed for resolving multiple contexts for a User Equipment (UE) in a wireless network. In one embodiment a method includes maintaining, for a coordinating node hosting a first Radio Access Technology (RAT) controller and a second RAT controller simultaneously, a centrally maintained database; determining, based on the contents of the centrally maintained database, when the UE is registering with the second RAT controller while currently registered with the first RAT controller; and sending, by the second RAT controller, a deregistration command to the first RAT controller the UE was registered with, wherein context is freed and wherein resources held at both the coordinating node and at a base station are freed.

    Abstract: A method for utilizing quality of service information in a network with tunneled backhaul is disclosed, comprising: establishing a backhaul bearer at a base station with a first core network, the backhaul bearer established by a backhaul user equipment (UE) at the base station, the backhaul bearer having a single priority parameter, the backhaul bearer terminating at a first packet data network gateway in the first core network; establishing an encrypted internet protocol (IP) tunnel between the base station and a coordinating gateway in communication with the first core network and a second core network; facilitating, for at least one UE attached at the base station, establishment of a plurality of UE data bearers encapsulated in the secure IP tunnel, each with their own QCI; and transmitting prioritized data of the plurality of UE data bearers via the backhaul bearer and the coordinating gateway to the second core network.

    Abstract: Methods and computer readable medium are disclosed for providing an outer header for a packet. In one embodiment a method includes receiving an outer header creation IE type encoded and containing instructions to create an outer header, an outer header creation description field taking a form of a bitmask, each bit indicating the outer header to be created in the outgoing packet; wherein when the outer header creation packet creation IE requests creation of an IP header, a source IP address is included in an IP header of an outgoing packet; and sending the outgoing packet including a source IP in the newly added outer IP header.

    Abstract: A method for cell reselection control is disclosed, comprising: sending an instruction from a radio network to a user equipment (UE) in an idle mode to adjust an existing cell reselection parameter at a UE to a high value; subsequently instructing the UE to return the cell reselection parameter to its previous value, after a first predetermined interval; and subsequently sending a second instruction to the UE in an idle mode to adjust the cell reselection parameter at the UE to the high value, after a second predetermined periodic interval, causing the UE to reselect to a cell with superior signal even when the UE may be under good coverage attached to an existing macro cell, thereby offloading the macro cell.
