    摘要: A single chip wireless transceiver operable to perform voice, data and radio frequency (RF) processing is provided. This processing may be divided between various processing modules. This single chip includes a processing module having an ARM microprocessor and a digital signal processor (DSP), an RF section, and an interface module. The processing module converts an outbound voice signal into an outbound voice symbol stream, converts an inbound voice symbol stream into an inbound voice signal, converts outbound data into an outbound data symbol stream, and converts an inbound data symbol stream into inbound data. These functions may be divided between the ARM microprocessor and DSP, where the DSP supports physically layer type applications and the ARM microprocessor supports higher layer applications. Further bifurcation may be based on voice applications, data applications, and/or RF control. The RF section converts an inbound RF voice signal into the inbound voice symbol stream, converts the outbound voice symbol stream into an outbound RF voice signal, converts an inbound RF data signal into the inbound data symbol stream, and converts the outbound data symbol stream into an outbound RF data signal. The interface module provides coupling between the processing module, the RF section, and with off-chip circuits.

    摘要: A device interconnects across links, a plurality of terminals having respective modes of operation. The device includes a plurality of ports for connection to respective links, and logic coupled to the plurality of ports to exercise an auto-negotiation protocol with terminals coupled to the respective links to resolve modes of operation. The logic includes a shared unit for executing the auto-negotiation protocol, and an arbiter unit for arbitrating among the plurality of ports for use of the shared unit. The arbiter connects ports in the plurality of ports to the shared unit in a round robin sequence. Memory stores a set of status signals for respective ports. The arbiter logic polls the memory to read the set of status signals in sequence, and in response enables use of the shared auto-negotiation unit by the ports. The modes of operation resolved by the shared auto-negotiation unit include LAN technology supported by terminals on the corresponding links, such as IEEE 802.3 Local Area Network technologies.

    摘要: A method and system for filtering multicast packets by a peripheral component. In one embodiment, the present invention uses a peripheral component driver to store in memory a selected hash values corresponding to desired multicast packets. In one embodiment, the peripheral component driver operates on a host computer to which a peripheral component is coupled. Next, when the peripheral component receives an incoming multicast packet, the present invention uses a hash value generator disposed on the peripheral component to determine a hash value for the received multicast packet. The present embodiment then compares the hash value for the received multicast packet with the selected hash values stored in memory. Provided the hash value for the received multicast packet does not match any of the selected hash values stored in the memory, the present embodiment discards the received multicast packet without interrupting the host computer. In so doing, the present embodiment effectively filters multicast packets without requiring constant intervention by the CPU (central processing unit) of the host computer.
