Apparatuses, methods, and computer readable media for secure discovery and connection to internet of things devices in a wireless local-area network are disclosed. An apparatus of a station comprising processing circuitry is disclosed. The processing circuitry may be configured to: encode a first packet to indicate to an access point to start discovery of Internet of Things (IoT) devices, and decode a second packet from the access point. The second packet may include identifications of IoT devices unauthenticated with the access point. The processing circuitry may be configured to receive a selection from an application of the station of one of the one or more identifications of the IoT devices, and encode a third packet including the identification of the IoT device and an indication that the access point is to request establishment of a secure session with the IoT device.

Techniques for implementing Wireless Gigabit (WiGig) Display Extension (WDE) communications as Wi-Fi Direct Services (WFDS) services are described. According to such techniques, WDE services may make use of primitives and events obtained from a WFDS application service platform (ASP). This application of WFDS to WDE may provide necessary mechanisms for layer 2 operations such as device and service discovery, P2P connection management, and session management. A system and method are provided for implementing a cloud based spectrum management scheme that enables Dynamic Spectrum Access (DSA) through rentals of available spectrum in a two-level analytics process for optimization. Primary spectrum holders as exclusive licensees of underused spectrum communicate with a global spectrum broker to place portions of their underused spectrum into an auction-based rental market on the condition that they can regain control of their spectrum when a need arises. Local spectrum brokers communicate with the global spectrum broker to bid for available spectrum to meet their temporary needs in time and place. The local spectrum brokers, in turn, administer local optimization schemes over their portion of the global region to ensure that an expected level of quality of service is provided to individual customers with whom the local spectrum brokers communicate. The disclosed brokering scheme, properly administered, provides an incremental step-wise approach to solving long-term spectrum shortage for wireless communications.

A system and methods are provided for specifying how multiple transactions may be initiated and/or terminated for available spectrum in a cloud spectrum services architecture. Transactions may be specified according to common time-frequency units or TFU's. Primary spectrum holders (PSH's) advertise availability of their underused spectrum, with specified parameters and conditions on procuring access to the spectrum to a regional spectrum marketplace. Requests for spectrum availability are made according to a specified number of TFU's as requested by an alternate spectrum holder (ASH) or a multi-mode device (MMD). Any of a participating PSH, an ASH, an MMD or a cloud-based entity may initiate communications with other entities in an effort to complete or facilitate a transaction by which a number of available TFU's are provided to an ASH or MMD for use.

In some embodiments a method may comprise receiving a request to transfer a wireless connection between the enabling device and a dependent device from a first wireless network to a second wireless network, determining that the dependent device can not initiate a connection in the second wireless network, rejecting the request, and initiating, by the enabling device, the transfer to the second wireless network. A request for spectrum use from an entity needing spectrum may be matched with available spectrum. The Cloud Spectrum Services (CSS) process allows entities to access spectrum they would otherwise not have; it allows the end user to complete their download during congested periods while maintaining high service quality; and it allows the holder of rental spectrum to receive compensation for an otherwise idle asset.

The disclosed apparatuses and methods may include transmitting a buffer message by a wireless USB device to a wireless USB host, which may indicate an available storage space in a buffer of the USB device to store data from the USB host. The buffer message may be transmitted independent of whether or not the USB device has received a request message (e.g., from the USB host) for information relating the available storage space in the buffer. Additionally, the buffer message may be transmitted independent of any data exchange mechanism between the USB host and the USB device. The USB device may receive a data packet from the USB host, and transmit a data packet acknowledgement message including data packet status information, and information regarding the available storage space in the buffer.

A system and method are provided that implement an inter-protocol adaptation layer (inter-PAL) pass-through processing scheme in wireless communicating devices operating with separate PALs to combine use of the individually-beneficial features of one PAL by allowing a first order capability for cross-talk between the PALs. A first PAL data packet is passed through the communicating system using a second PAL syntax. In so doing, a capacity to employ beneficial features of the second PAL advantageously in enhancement of the information in a data packet generated according to the first PAL is provided.
