A packer provides multiple seals when deployed downhole. Exposed to an activating agent, a swellable element on the packer's mandrel expands radially outward to form a seal with the borehole wall. Deformable elements, are disposed on the mandrel adjacent the swellable element. These deformable elements deform outward to the surrounding borehole wall to at least partially isolate the downhole annulus and the swellable element. Bias units releasable affixed on the tool adjacent the deformable elements can deform the elements. These bias units can be released either by swelling of the swellable element or by fluid pressure. Once released, the bias units are axially biased toward the deformable elements to deform them. In this way, the packer can form multiple seals with the borehole wall, and the deformable elements can isolate the swellable element from the downhole annulus, which can keep the swellable element from degrading or being overly extruded.

A sliding sleeve for frac operations or the like has a housing, a sleeve, and a shock absorber. The sleeve is movable within the housing's internal passage relative to flow ports. The shock absorber, which can have a cylindrical body, positions partially in the sleeve's internal passage and has a distal end that extends beyond the sleeve. A lip on the sleeve's end is engageable with the internal shoulder. When a ball is dropped on the sleeve's ball seat and pumped fluid forces the sleeve to an open position, the shock absorber absorbs the movement of the sleeve. To absorber the movement, the shock absorber breaks one or more shear pin connections with the sleeve, interposes its lip between the sleeve's distal end and the internal shoulder, and fractures at least a portion of its distal end from the impact with the sleeve.

A method and system for integrating software update services with software applications are disclosed. In one embodiment, the method comprises receiving as inputs a software update service and a software application. Information regarding the software application is collected. An integrated application is generated based on the collected information. The integrated application includes the collected information, the software application, and a runtime module for the software update service.

The present invention generally relates to controlling the flow of fluids in a wellbore. In one aspect, a valve for selectively closing a flow path through a wellbore in a first direction is provided. The valve includes a body and a piston surface formable across the flow path in the first direction. The piston surface is formed at an end of a shiftable member annularly disposed in the body. The valve further includes a flapper member, the flapper member closable to seal the flow path when the shiftable member moves from a first position to a second position due to fluid flow acting on the piston surface. In another aspect, a valve for selectively closing a flow path through a wellbore in a single direction is provided. In yet another aspect, a method for selectively closing a flow path through a wellbore in a first direction is provided.

Embodiments of the invention are directed to a valve. In one embodiment, the valve includes a body having a first biasing member and a sealing member configured to axially move inside the body against the first biasing member to provide a path for fluid to flow from an interior region of the body to an exterior region of the body at a first predetermined pressure difference across the sealing member.

The present invention provides apparatus and methods for completing a wellbore using expandable tubulars. In one aspect, the invention includes a tubular member with an expandable portion at a lower end constructed and arranged to be expanded into contact with a previously expanded liner. At an upper end of the tubular is a polish bore receptacle permitting the tubular to be tied back to the surface of the well with production tubing. In another aspect, the invention provides a method of completing a well comprising expanding a liner top into a cased wellbore to hang the liner and, thereafter running a tubular member into the wellbore.
