Abstract:
A USB Type C connector port adapts to support docking solutions with enhanced power transfer features, including increased power transfer levels supported through a guide pin and connector interface, rapid power transfer configuration changes by applying pre-negotiated power settings, external battery charge and discharge at an information handling system with improved efficiency accomplished by transitioning voltage between native and boosted levels responsive to information handling system load, and robust connector port coupling in a cavity of a connector shell.
Abstract:
A single user input element can be used in four different modes including a first mode in which the user input element mimics a single button by restricting input along multiple axes, a second mode in which the user input element restricts input to a first axis, a third mode in which the user input element restricts input to a second axis, and a fourth mode in which the user has no restrictions to user input. A rotational cam may be used to interact with shuttle pins that control the height of a surface (e.g., an up/down position) of the plurality of fill spacers to change a look and/or feel of the user input element. A rotational structure which has lockout tabs to prevent individual rotational axis from being rotated depending on the configuration of the input device. These aspects may provide a reconfigurable direction pad for a game controller.
Abstract:
A portable information handling system folds a flexible display over a hinge and selectively engages a brake that restricts hinge movement if a predetermined condition exists, such as a predetermined thermal state associate with potential damage to the flexible display. Heating and cooling elements increase or decrease the flexible display thermal state to fall within a constraint that supports folding and releases the hinge brake.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, a method for managing visual uniformity in a foldable display includes identifying a hinge angle of the foldable display, the hinge angle indicating a degree to which the foldable display is opened or closed; receiving surface curvature data from a plurality of sensors of the foldable display, the surface curvature data indicating a mechanical state of a surface of the foldable display; accessing a plurality of surface maps stored in a display database of the foldable display, each of the plurality of surface maps indicating one or more display settings associated with a respective mechanical state of the surface of the foldable display; retrieving the one or more display settings from the display database based on the hinge angle and the surface curvature data; and causing a plurality of pixels to illuminate using the one or more display settings.
Abstract:
A disclosed wireless charging clip for an information handling system includes a first surface comprising a charging coil, a ferrite sheet positioned below the first surface, mating elements to be coupled to respective mating elements of the information handling system when the charging clip is installed on the information handling system, charging circuitry configured supply inductive power to charge an auxiliary device when the device is placed on top of the first surface, and a connector through which input power is received from the information handling system when the charging clip is installed. The charging coil may include multiple graphene layers. The charging clip may include a second surface and a third surface including the connector through which input power is received from the information handling system. The mating elements may include magnets to align and hold the charging clip in position with respect to the information handling system.

Abstract:
A portable information handling system supports a flexible OLED display film over housing portions rotationally coupled by a hinge by folding the OLED display film over the hinge. Hinge brackets that couple to the housing portions each have a gear member with a semicircular shape gear inner circumference that engages a gear subassembly of the hinge main body. Hinge bracket rotation translates through the gear subassembly for synchronized housing rotation. The hinge main body has first and second semicircular portions with a smooth surface defined to accept the outer circumference smooth surface of the gear member semicircular shape at first and second rotation axes about which the hinge brackets pivot so that the display film has space to fold in the closed position.

Abstract:
A game controller integrates a trigger at a side of a planar controller housing, the trigger rotating within the plane of the controller housing about an axle disposed perpendicular to the plane. The trigger rotationally couples to the axle at a trigger bracket that fixedly coupled to a frame. A guide integrated in the frame engages a member extending from the trigger to manage trigger motion. A cover couples to the frame and separate from the trigger to enhance housing robustness.
Abstract:
A portable information handling system folds a flexible display over a hinge and selectively adapts operating conditions to maintain constraints associated with folding the flexible display. Operating conditions are monitored and stored, then analyzed to adapt the constraints based upon system usage, such as historical temperature changes, a number of display folds, a number of display touches, and an amount of touch pressure.
