A method is provided for controlling the transmitting power in a mobile radio system a corresponding mobile radio system is also provided. A signal emitted from a transmitter is received by a receiver via a transmission channel of the mobile radio system. The transmitted signal is evaluated and a power control information item is generated based on the result of the evaluation. The power control information item is then transmitted back to the transmitter for adjusting the transmitting power. In order to determine the power control information item, the time response of the transmission channel is estimated and the transmitting power needed in the future is deduced therefrom.

The transmission between the transmitting/receiving device and the given terminal device is subsequently interrupted for a given time period. The given time period lasts as long as a transmission period of at least one transmission frequency. The transmission between the transmitting/receiving device and the given terminal device is continued in a second transmission cycle in time after the given time period has elapsed. A switching system is also provided.

A method and a mobile station for controlling reception of data packets in a receiving unit of a mobile station in a mobile radio system. The receiving unit can in each case be switched during predetermined time frames to receive data packets to be detected from base stations, in which case a plurality of predetermined time frames are each assigned to receive data packets from a specific base station. The base station transmits characteristic data packets at a predetermined time interval before the data packets to be detected. Such measures exemplarily include recognizing a decision on a change of a configuration of a base station, informing a user equipment served by the base station due to a forthcoming change of at least one of a manipulated synchronization failure value or a manipulated radio link failure value before the configuration of the base station is changed, and providing the user equipment being served by the base station with a synchronization signal indicating a new configuration after the configuration of the base station is changed from an old configuration to the new configuration.
