Abstract: Embodiments contemplate Small Cell Enhancements such as PDCP Placement and impact on control and data plane procedures. Embodiments contemplate small-cell enhancements such as they relate to dual-connectivity scenarios. Different architecture models and their impact on procedural aspects are contemplated. Different RAN, protocol stack and radio bearer (RB) architectures along with their implications are described. These architectures may be applicable to one or more of control plane that may terminate at the macro. Also, a small-cell that may be capable of supporting RLC modes and/or that may be capable of supporting MAC functionality is contemplated. A small-cell may be capable of supporting bidirectional physical channels. Also, there could be an aggregation point (either at the macro eNB or at a different physical or logical RAN node) for S1-U interface termination. The Small Cell eNB (SCeNB) could be in control of the Macro eNB.

Abstract: A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may communicate with a serving cell and monitor suitable non-serving cell(s) may be monitored. Uplink-based forward mobility may be performed. The WTRU may transmit control signaling that may indicate an ordered list of candidate target cell(s) using resources of the source cell. A resume procedure towards a non-serving cell may be initiated while in connected state with serving cell. Upon a successful resume in non-serving cell, the connection may be disconnected from the serving cell.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for power saving in a wireless network are disclosed. A Wireless Transmit/Receive Unit (WTRU) may comprise a transmitter, a receiver, and a processor. The processor may determine a processing state pertaining to behavior of the WTRU and determine a minimum amount of resources to be processed for one or more sets of physical resources based on the determined processing state. Each respective set of physical resources may comprise resources in time, and any of frequency or space. For each respective set of physical resources, the time may comprise a frame structure associated with a numerology applicable to the respective set of physical resources, the frequency may comprise any of a frequency location, a bandwidth, or the numerology, and the space may comprise one or more beams. The processor may process the determined minimum amount of resources of the one of more sets of physical resources.

Abstract: Supplementary uplink (SUL) may be used in wireless systems. Cell suitability criteria may be provided for cells configured with SUL. A Wireless Transmit/Receive Unit (WTRU) may receive paging with an indication of a carrier (e.g., SUL or regular uplink (RUL)) in which to initiate part or all of an initial access. A WTRU that may be performing response-driven paging may provide (e.g. explicit) beam information for beamforming of a paging message on a non-beamformed SUL. A handover (HO) procedure (e.g., carrier selection, configuration handling, HO failure, etc.) may be provided for a WTRU with a configured SUL. A WTRU may request a change of a configured UL. A WTRU may (e.g., autonomously) perform a switch to a different (e.g., configured) uplink, for example, when one or more conditions may be met (e.g., conditional switch). Semi-persistent scheduling (SPS) resources/configuration may be relocated from a first UL to a second UL.

Abstract: Method, apparatus and systems are disclosed. In one representative embodiment, a method may be implemented by a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) for communication via a network access point (NAP). The method may include the WTRU receiving from the NAP a set of preambles and corresponding propagation delay related thresholds and determining propagation delay related information associated with a distance between the WTRU and the NAP or a location in a coverage of the NAP. The method may further include selecting a subset of preambles from the set of preambles based on the determined propagation delay related information, randomly selecting a preamble from the selected subset of preambles, and sending the randomly selected preamble to the NAP.

Abstract: Methods to perform, maintain and report measurements on a transmission-reception point (TRP) using limited reference signal transmission are described herein. The mobility measurement reports may utilize physical channels. Methods to obtain measurements on neighbor TRPs using limited RS transmissions are also described herein. Random-Access procedures to enable the addition of a neighbor TRP or handover without requiring higher layer signaling (and possibly without an interface between source and target TRP) are also described herein. New triggers to perform RA in order to decrease handover latency are also described herein. Wireless Transmit/Receive Unit (WTRU) behavior upon receiving RAR from multiple possible TRPs are also described herein. For example, a WTRU may store RAR information and use it later in an interrupted RA procedure.

The RRC message may comprise information that indicates an association between each of a plurality of beams and power information. The WTRU is configured to receive a trigger message. The WTRU is configured to select a beam in response to the received trigger message. The WTRU is configured to send a control channel transmission using a power level. The power level may be based on the power information mapped to the selected beam.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for accessing a wireless network are described herein. A method according to at least one embodiment may include receiving a transmission including information associated with a plurality of random access channel (RACH) configurations. The information may indicate a plurality of RACH occasions in which a preamble transmission may be sent. One or more reference signals may be received. Methods may further include sending, using one of the plurality of RACH configurations, the preamble transmission in one of the plurality of RACH occasions along with one or more protocol data units (PDUs). The one of the plurality of RACH configurations may be selected based on a measurement of at least one of the one or more received reference signals. The method may further include sending, in response to the preamble transmission and the one or more PDUs, a random access response.

Abstract: A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) is configured to receive an identifier of a beam. The WTRU is configured to measure a downlink quality associated with at least one beam. The WTRU is configured to determine whether the measured downlink quality is below a threshold value.
