摘要： A liquid crystal display device includes transparent pixel electrodes disposed at intersections of scanning signal lines and data lines, and a plurality of thin film transistors each of which is provided correspondingly to one of the pixel electrodes. Each of the transistors includes an output electrode connected to one of the pixel electrodes, a control electrode connected to one of the scanning signal lines, and an input electrode connected to one of the data lines. A first insulating film covers the scanning signal lines, and a semiconductor layer is interposed between the first insulating film and a portion of the data lines. The method of making the liquid crystal display device includes the steps of etching a transistor semiconductor layer underlying the output electrode, in the thin film transistors using a photoresist mask formed on the transistor semiconductor layer such that an etched end of the transistor semiconductor layer on a side of the output electrode extends beyond an end of the output electrode, and etching an end of the semiconductor layer underlying the data lines, of the semiconductor layer using a metal film making up the data lines as a mask.

摘要： A method and apparatus for suppressing errors in a disconnecting inspection of wiring lines formed over a TFT substrate utilized for a liquid crystal display panel due to a defective contact between an inspection probe and an inspection terminal. A liquid crystal display has a liquid crystal display panel including a pair of substrates and a liquid crystal layer with a plurality of gate lines and a plurality of data lines formed on a main surface of one of the substrates adjacent to the liquid crystal layer. The plurality of gate lines extend in one direction, and the plurality of data lines extend in another direction transverse to the one direction and are spaced from the plurality of gate lines by a first insulating film. Switching elements and pixel electrodes are formed on the main surface. At least one of at least one of the plurality of data lines and at least one of the plurality of gate lines is electrically connected with an inspection terminal, and the inspection terminal extends at least partially over a second insulating film covering at least two other data lines disposed at one side of the at least one data line or at least two other gate lines disposed at one side of the at least one gate line.

摘要： In a liquid crystal display device having a terminal or the like in a periphery thereof which has a conductive layer extending along a certain direction thereof and being covered with an insulating film and an oxide conductor layer formed on the insulating layer and contacting with the conductive layer in an opening in the insulating film, arrangements are provided to prevent disconnection of the oxide conductor layer. A semiconductor layer is provided under the conductive layer to be extending therealong in the liquid crystal display device. The semiconductor layer is also formed to be extended beyond an end of the conductive layer or to be wider than the conductive layer around the opening in the insulating film in the periphery of the liquid crystal display device.

摘要： There is provided a liquid crystal display (LCD) device that prevents light leaks near spacers. The LCD device controls the optical transmissivity of a liquid crystal layer interposed between substrates disposed opposite each other, by means of an electric field generated in the layer-thickness direction of the liquid crystal layer. The LCD device includes spacers on a liquid-crystal-side surface of one substrate, signal lines formed on a liquid-crystal-side surface of the other substrate, an insulating film formed to cover the signal lines, and electrodes on the insulating film's upper surface. Each electrode contributes to controlling the optical transmissivity of the liquid crystal layer. Each spacer has a vertex surface disposed opposite to the signal lines. A portion of each electrode extends to the upper surface of a corresponding signal line. The extended portion is opposite to a part of a spacer's vertex surface disposed opposite to the corresponding signal line.

摘要： A liquid crystal display includes a first substrate and a second substrate with a liquid crystal layer therebetween, the first substrate having a plurality of drain signal lines and a plurality of gate signal lines, and a plurality of pixel regions defined by the drain signal lines and the gate signal lines. The pixel regions include a first electrode having a plurality of linear shapes, a second electrode having a planer shape, the second electrode being overlapped with the first electrode through an insulation film, and a thin film transistor having a video signal supplied thereto from the drain signal line. The first electrode is connected with the thin film transistor so that an electric potential of the video signal is supplied thereto, and a standard electric potential is supplied to the second electrode. A third electrode is arranged between the drain signal line and the liquid crystal layer.

A metal line is arranged for a plurality of the pixel regions, is overlapped with the second electrode, and is connected to the second electrode electrically.
